13 Things We All Relate To When Mom Comes To Town

Our freedom as college students is something we all cherish, but sometimes we just need to spend time with our loved ones. A weekend with Mom can be the perfect little get away from daily stress. You find yourself excited to let her into the new life you've created and want her to see the very best parts of it.

Here's thirteen things you're bound to experience within a "Mom weekend."

Long Hugs

Let's face it, we all know the first thing you'll do when Mom gets out of the car is latch on.

Catching Up

The second thing you'll most likely switch to is spilling everything you've been holding in.

..... including all your drama and stress

Mom listens to all the things you just can’t talk about with anyone else.

One Word: Groceries

We all know Mom just can't help but ask how your supply of food is holding up. Chances are, she probably won't be able to leave without fixing the fact that you have only one package of Ramen and half of a Gatorade left in your stash. You'll feel like a millionaire throwing the "high quality" snacks in the basket.

Showing off your city

Have you ever tried squishing all your favorite places and activities into one weekend?
You will now.

Random Sights

We've all googled the top things to do in our area. Chances are if this is one of your mom's first visits you may try to impress her with something that "seemed cool from the reviews."

Introducing her to your “adult life”

.... and that's where I buy groceries
....... that's where we park our cars when we go out
oh, and that's where I bought a book from, read it, and returned it a day later...

It may not be a glorious life, but it's ours....
and our independence is something we want to show off to the ones we learned from.

Showing your college friends off

She's heard all the stories, so it's only fair you help her put a face to all the names, right?

Picking the best places to eat

Eating well is a must, since you’ve been surviving off of the cafe for weeks.
Mom's got this one.

Relaxing

Pizza, wine, and chilling in a hotel room for the night? Sign us up.

Talking about all of the things to do next time she's in town

..... because honestly, y'all probably didn't get around to half of the stuff you planned.

Sneaky Advice

Mom will always find a way to sneak in some advice on your living habits. She thinks she's being slick when she "nonchalantly" asks if you separate your whites from your pinks on laundry day, or when the last time you had your oil changed was, but we all know what she's doing..

Sappy Goodbyes

By the end of the trip all you'll be able to think about is how much you love spending time with your mom and how much you cherish her advice. She'll gush about how proud she is of you, and you'll have another one of those long hugs. As you watch her drive away you'll find yourself feeling lucky to be blessed with such an amazing role model.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
