"The Mets have shown me more ways to lose than I even knew existed" –– Casey Stengel. The Mets are a team like no other. One minute there up by five runs, then next they're losing by three. But they're also known for coming back into the game and winning it all. You'd think watching the up and down of the Mets season after season would be tiring, yet we keep rooting for them. Why? Because watching the underdog is a lot more fun. Thus bringing 12 reasons why being a Mets fan is the best.
1. We have Citi Field.
One of the most beautiful stadiums in the country, with fantastic staff, and a Shake Shack!
2. Pitching Staff is the best rotation.
Harvey, DeGrom, Matz, Syndergaard, Colon. Need I say more?
3. 2015 NL East Division Champs.
Who would’ve known that the Mets would be the Division Champs? Before 2015, 2006 was the last time the Mets had been in the playoffs.
4. David Wright.
Can’t forget about the good old captain now. He pulls the team together in times of need, and gives us a reason to believe in the Mets.
5. Being the Underdog.
The Mets are notoriously known for being down by 2 runs, with bases loaded, with one out left, and hitting a grand slam. They’re also known for losing so terribly that it’s almost expected. Which makes their victories so much sweeter.
6. Mr. Met.
Could possibly be deemed one of the coolest mascots in the game.
7. The bond of being a Mets fan.
Meeting other Mets fans is fantastic. Mostly everyone from the New York/New Jersey Area is a Phillies or Yankees fans. It’s great having someone on your side.
8. “Let’s go Mets!”
Nothing can compare to the feeling of standing in Citi Field chanting “Let’s go Mets” during a close game.
9. Pride.
Born, raised, and die a Mets fan. Nothing can compare.
10. The Phillies suck.
That’s kind of self explanatory though.
11. Heartbreak and resiliency.
The Heartbreak of being a Mets fan can hurt, but it also builds character. ‘Heartbreak’ should be the Mets middle name, but their Resiliency trumps it. For example; After 9/11 Mike Piazza hit the homerun against the Braves getting the Mets in the lead 3-2, showing that the Mets and the City of New York was ready to fight back.
12. Ya good believe!
It’s not over till its over. 2016 will be an amazing year for the Mets.
