English majors are super heroes.

English majors are often underestimated and asked questions such as "So you wanna teach?" or "So what are you going to do with that?" This simply isn't fair because there are so many career options for us due to the transferable skills that we've learned. The English major isn't one for someone who isn't willing to put in the work or to think critically. Even though my major isn't always considered as worthy as a STEM major, I do not regret choosing it for a minute. Here are some reasons why it is the actual best major (in my humble opinion).

1. You get to read all the books.

2. You learn how to write well.

3. Your professors are probably weird (in the best of ways).

4. There will be so many options after graduation.

5. You may not make any money at first, but you might be happier.

6. You get to drink copious amounts of coffee or tea.

7. All of your friends call you a grammar Nazi (and you love it).

8. You get to live in metaphors.

9. The cool literature classes (um hello, Young Adult Literature!)

10. You're good at persuasion, so you're more likely to get what you want.

11. You learn how to analyze everything.

12. You get to make a difference.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
