There are few things in this world as wonderful as international football. With the UEFA Euro Cup this June the European sporting world has been abuzz. I first began my lifelong relationship with football in the summer of 2010 in the midst of the World Cup in South Africa. I remember never having fallen in love that hard and that fast, as I did with this sport. It is a given that no boy could ever give me as much as football has, and if they can then I have found the one. Here are 12 reasons why you should consider watching the beautiful game.

1. The intensity. Just like any other sport, football puts their fans on edge because of how intense a 90 minute match can get. Nothing is more intense, more raw than a football match.

2. The drama. You have not seen drama until yellow and red cards are handed out at no expense.

3. The passion. In my dictionary, the word "football" is almost literally synonymous with the word "passion." Passion is underwhelming compared to the feelings and the emotions felt during a match.

4. The culture. Footie culture is a different world all together. It brings cultures from around the world and makes them one.

5. The excitement. I have to admit though, along with excitement comes a ton of anxiety especially when it's your team on the line.

6. The celebration. Whether you win or you lose, football is always a game of celebration.

7. The love. I cannot explain to anyone how much love I can feel when watching this sport. It's the love that can fill me up and make me whole.

8. The dancing. Have you seen footballers celebrate? No other sport can live up to the dances of football players.

9. The fans. Football fans are unique to almost any other fan of any other fandom. We are passionate, excited, intense and can argue for hours on end if you do not support our players or our teams.

10. The happiness. Seeing your team score a goal is happiness that cannot be explained with words.

11. The languages. With international football, there are countries from around the world participating. With club football, there are teams with players from around the world. Football is a separate language that unites all.

12. The unity. The main goal (pun intended) of football is to unite with one sport. As Franz Beckenbauer said "Football is one of the world’s best means of communication. It is impartial, apolitical and universal. Football unites people around the world every day. Young or old, players or fans, rich or poor, the game makes everyone equal, stirs the imagination, makes people happy and makes them sad."

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
