Tigerland Bars VS. Frat Basement Parties..... are they really all that different?
While they may have a few key differences (such as the cover fee and better selection of alcohol at a bar, vs themed socials and standards watching your every move at the frats)-lets be honest, they're basically the same.
1. Both places are equally hot, sweaty, and sticky-and leave your clothes and hair smelling like smoke.
2. At both settings, you have an equal likelihood of accidentally being spilt on (or even worse-spill on yourself).
3. Neither place has food to cure your case of the drunchies (drunk-munchies).
4. Both places have equally gross bathrooms.... which are always have a long line and are packed with a swarm of girls checking themselves in the mirror.
5. Both places have equal opportunity as far as elevated surfaces go- whether it's a the frat's stage or the bar's stage, it's still screams out at every drunk girl looking to dance.
6. Even though drinks might not be free in Tigerland like they are in the basement parties at frats, if you play your cards right, you can usually find someone to buy you one.
7. Although there may not be "themes" for the bars like your pairs with fraternities, you can always count on T-Shirt Night at Reggies- which might as well be a theme!
8. The DJ's at both places will take all of your song requests, but then never actually play the music you ask for.
9. You have to take your turn as sober every now and then at either place (whether you're designated sober sister for a social at a frat, or DD for the night with your friends).
10. Whether it's an age requirement for a bar, or you have to be a member of a certain house to go to a frat party, they are both selective about who is allowed at the party.
11. Pregaming is mandatory before trying to show up to either place- end of story.
11. The line by the bar is always long at both places, and the bartender has an equally difficult time hearing your drink order-no matter where you are.
12. Whether you're at Tigerland drinking a Mike's 190 Octane, or a fraternity drinking some form of mystery Jungle Juice, both places have drinks they are known for that will guarantee you a night you wont remember.
13. Both places have (drinking) games- whether it's beer pong or flip cup at your favorite frat; or a round of pool or darts at the bar.
14.. And in all honesty, by the end of the night no matter which place you go, you'll leave having had just as much fun and with just as many regrets.
All in all, both the bars you find in Tigerland and the bars you find at the frats really aren't too different. They're both places where you've probably made both some of your worst decisions, and your best memories.
