12 Reasons Why Living Alone Is The Best

I will die living alone if it means I get to keep these privileges

I may complain a lot about having three jobs because I have bills to pay but there are two things that make it all worth it: my dog, Cerberus, and living all by myself. This might come as a surprise to some people because there are sad songs literally written about my situation, but as I am laying on my couch while I'm typing this out with my dog at my feet I get a moment of content that I can rarely catch in my busy life. Of course, this list won't be true for everyone who lives alone but for me, an introvert who craves total independence, these are the small things that make all my tension momentarily weakens.

1. You get to walk around naked

I mean, so long as you don't have big windows or so long as those windows are covered.

2. You can sing as loud as you want

Even if you're really bad at it!

3. You can play your music/movies/TV shows/video games as loud as you want

I mean...if you have a shared wall with your neighbor this might not be a privilege you have. (Unless you're a shitty neighbor).

4. You only clean up your own messes

There's dishes in the sink? Those are your dishes that you used! You don't have to anyone else's dishes or cleaning! Every mess is yours and you don't have to feel bitter about cleaning up after someone else!

5. You can use the bathroom without closing the door

This can be awkward if you have a curious indoor pet.

6. You can leave your clothes wherever you want

Come in the door? Take off your bra and throw it on the kitchen or living room floor!

7. You don't have to share your food

You also don't have to label which food is yours and you don't have to feel guilty about making food and not sharing it.

8. The bathroom is all yours

You get a bathroom all to yourself and you get to stay in there as long as you want!

9. All the space is yours

You can put anything in any area of your home! It's your choice only!

10. You are accountable for the utilities

You can control how much electricity, water, and gas you use. If you lived with people before just watch those bills go down as you turn off every light behind you, keep the thermostat at the temperature you prefer (or in my case: the temperature I can afford), and have a shower or bath for as long as you want (can afford).

11. You don't have to deal with other people's friends or noises

You want to go to bed early for a change? Go ahead because no one is going to loudly use the kitchen, loudly enter the house with loud friends, or enjoy some entertainment like movies...loudly.

12. You don't have to worry about being a good roommate

You don't have to worry or feel guilty about being a roommate like the one I just described. You won't bother anyone with your loudness...except for the ghosts!

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
