1. When you see each other for the first time in forever

You haven't seen each other in a year. The first hug in the airport and those moments spent together are more precious than you could ever imagine.

2. The amazing food of the other countries

If you are a foodie or just a human being, nothing is better than trying new foods and eating delicious home cooked meals from around the world.

3. Learning a new language

Yes, it can be frustrating ,but it can be a wonderful experience. It becomes almost like a secret language when you two talk around your families.

4. Being involved in another culture

You may become a well rounded person and have a better understanding of the world. It is also interesting to see what other countries think about the issues going on in your country.

5. Having friends all over the world

You meet some really cool people and now you have someone to message when it's 3 am and you can't sleep. You don't even have to feel bad because they are probably up taking on the day.

6. Teaching the person you love about your world

You two may live in completely different cultures, so when you are together it is full of sharing favorite things and learning a lot about each other's lives.

7. Getting to travel

Seeing new things, learning the history, and becoming more independent all while spending time with the person you love.

8. There is lots of trust and respect

Long distance is difficult, but if you truly trust and respect your significant other, your relationship will last a lifetime. You don't have worry about who they are hanging out with and they don't worry about you. You each realize that you are individual people and have friends to hang out with. No questions asked.

9. The memories made last a lifetime

When you only see each other once a year, the dates planned can be very extravagant. You just can't forget about the little moments together like the time you got lost in Paris, or rode the see-saw in the kiddie park. Those are the moments that can make you realize how much you love your significant other.

10. Adorable selfies in front of famous monuments

The pictures that you may post from your trip can make you the cliche couple, but those pictures can help you get through the times that you are apart and they can help you remember some of the best days of your life.

11. You understand how to effectively communicate

From letters, to phone calls, endless Snapchat streaks, and even six hour Skype conversations you may be conversing all the time, but sometimes you still feel like you haven't talked in weeks. You know what needs to be said and become very good with using your words to explain your feelings.

12. They are there to support you, but their presence isn't overwhelming

Some of your friends might complain about their significant other being needy and making plans with them all the time, but you know that your always free...even though it kind of sucks. You know that your partner is there to support you and loves you dearly, but so far away at the same time. Essentially, you are independent together.

These are just some of my personal favorites; I would love to hear yours!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
