Different people have different favorite seasons. Some may love summer for the beach, or winter for the snow, but I love fall. Don't get me wrong, I love laying on the beach during the summer and enjoy not having to worry about assignment due dates and tests. However, nothing quite compares to the seasonal joys that fall brings to me. There are a million things to enjoy about fall, but here are just a few.

1. The pretty colors!

Mother nature is about to give us a beautiful show of colors. The leaves will change and fall onto the streets, the trees will soon be bare, but nothing can beat the beautiful hues or orange, yellow, and red that the season brings.

2. All the candles.

Yes, candles are a year-round kind of thing, but all the new scents during the fall make them so much better. As soon as September hits, the pumpkin, spice, and apple scented candles hit the shelves and fill everyone with joy.

3. Apple Cider!

Who doesn't love hot apple cider?!

4. Apple picking.

Nothing beats wandering around an orchard searching for the perfect apples to take home and turn into a delicious pie or jelly. Even if the perfect apple may be on the very top of the tree, that doesn't stop some of us!

5. Halloween!

When does it become socially unacceptable to trick or treat...?

6. Fall means the holidays are on their way!

Food, family, and more food... the best time of the year is right around the corner. Soon we will be surrounded by loved ones, decorating for the holidays and eating all of our favorite seasonal meals.

7. Pumpkin... everything!

Pumpkin spice, pumpkin candles, pumpkin pie, pumpkin tea, pumpkin... seriously everything. What could we POSSIBLY come up with next? I mean, really, who needs pumpkin spice flavored cereal.

8. Cool weather

This is the time of the year when the weather is not too hot, and not too cold. The mornings are cool and the evenings are still warm enough to hang out outside without discomfort. Soon, we will be able to walk to class without sweating out half of our body weight and ride with the windows down just to feel the fall breeze.

9. Cozy clothes

Come on, who isn't excited to shop for the new season?! Yes, I am talking about over-sized sweaters, new comfy jeans, and excessively large scarves.

10. Football!!

Even if you don't have a clue what is going on on that screen, it's hard to not feel a bit of excitement when football season rolls around.

11. New seasons of your favorite TV shows

12. Christmas music is coming!

It's never too soon to jam out to some Mariah Carey.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
