When you hear the title Criminal Minds, what do you think? Do you hear the words and imagine critical thinking? The minds of criminals? Do you think of certain FBI agents who observe the human mind and solve crime? Does this lead you into thinking of the the crime fighting television series that involves the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) of Quantico, Virginia?
It sure does for me! This television series is currently on its twelfth season and has a numerous amount of viewers hooked including myself. What makes the TV show so relevant and amazing though? What is it that has people thinking, "Wow! I want to become an FBI agent like Aaron Hotchner one day," ? I'll give you a fair amount of reasons why this television show has become a hit and will continue to live on even after it is done airing new episodes.
1. Crime
Everyone loves a good crime show whether it be fiction or nonfiction. We're in luck with Criminal Minds because this show helps bring true, horrifying stories to life and it includes an amount of mystery and interesting plot lines you can't even find on NCIS.
2. The BAU Team
The Behavioral Analysis Unit is a close knit family, although not blood related, that makes our hearts melt when they are seen caring for one another. They are a family of agents and best friends and we all secretly wish we were apart of this crime fighting family.
3. Derek "Chocolate Thunder" Morgan
Yes. His nickname is Chocolate Thunder per request of Penelope Garcia whom is the BAU's Technical Analyst. We can all agree that Derek Morgan is the hunk of the show and he'll always be in our eyes drifting pattern.
4. Penelope and Derek's Friendship
We all aspire to have a friendship as golden as theirs and if we already do, then we wish it was with them specifically instead.
5. Dr. Spencer Reid
A personal favorite of mine and many others. How can we resist this intelligent character? He is attractive through his eidetic memory and charming good looks. Plus, he's the youngest on the team so that automatically leaves a soft spot on our beating hearts.
6. Penelope Garcia
One word: fantastic. To be able to hack into any and everything of the internet and more, Penelope is a character many of us aspire to be if we wish to be as tech savvy as her.
7. The Cases
There is not a dull moment in this show and we have the crime cases to thank for that. While almost all of them are somewhat terrifying and mysterious in some sort of way the episode is always able to capture our attention and keep our eyes glued to the screen no matter what. When the cliffhangers hit us out of nowhere, we are always pining for more.
8. George Foyet
Any hardcore Criminal Minds fan grinds their teeth and clenches their jaw at this name. After all, how could he have possibly killed Hotchner's wife? We will never feel whole again after seeing that specific episode.
9. The Suspense
The suspense of not knowing what will happen in the next episode is a thrill giver and we love it, but we also always know that things will resolve in the end. This is our crime show high.
10. Jason Gideon
A fan favorite from the beginning, but only getting to last through this favorite for three seasons. We all loved Jason and how he was a father figure toward Spencer. Once he was out of the show, we sort of seemed lost after that.
11. The Heartache
Every time we lose a favorite character or an innocent victim, our heart clenches and tears fill our eyes. Although, we know the team will redeem themselves by the next episode.
12. The Love
Our love for this show is never ending and no other show will ever beat the emotion we feel toward this suspenseful and outstanding show.
There you have it. The number one, in my mind, crime show still running on television. While not all of the original characters are still on this show, it is easy to get by and continue watching because the writers know how to keep every single viewer hooked. Here's to more minds and crimes being solved! Cheers.
