As Towson students, we're always hungry for something to eat on campus. However, many freshman are missing out on the best places to eat and they're not getting the Towson experience. It's hard finding a great place to eat with a certain amount of meals. Here's a little guide for freshman to know about the best to not-so-best places to dine on campus!
1. Patuxent “P-Tux” Bistro
This is something that I refuse to debate about. Though hard to find in the University Union, Patuxent is honestly one of the best places to eat on campus because of the different options. At Patuxent, there is a “Los Fuegos,” which is a Mexican cuisine, a grilled cheese station, Pasta station, Indian cuisine, and even a mini salad bar. My personal favorite is the pasta station. The only negative thing about P-Tux is that they are only open for just 3 hours each day, which means that the lines are constantly long.
2. Administration “Admin” Building
Please don’t get me started on their waffle fries! Many don’t know about the Administration building because of the fact that it is a walking distance depending on which residence hall you live in!
3. Au Bon Pain or “ABP”
Eating healthy is difficult on campus, however, Au Bon Pain is known for their delicious salads, healthy sandwiches, fresh fruit, and of course, their fresh bakery! The only thing is that Au Bon Pain is unnecessarily expensive (if you Towson students know what I mean)! Located in Hawkins Hall, Au Bon Pain is a great place to stop after an intense workout or if you want a quick meal before class.
4. West Village Dining Hall
Out of all dining halls, this is a great place to eat if you are trying to get all you can eat for just one meal! At West Village, there are vegan stations, taco stations, a sandwich station, pasta station, a grill, and even ice cream! The walk to West Village is worth it because the food will fill you up!
5. Susquehanna “Susq” Cafeteria
Susquehanna is another great place to eat on campus. Located on the 2nd floor of the University Union, Susq is home to places such as Chick-fil-A, a New York sandwich station, a Sushi bar, and a personal pizza station! You’ll definitely see everyone you know at Susq!
6. Panda Express
Also located in West Village Commons, Panda Express is home to awesome Chinese food. No wonder the lines are long. I’d recommend waiting in line as soon as it opens!
7. Einstein Bagels / Starbucks / Jamba Juice
These are not technically restaurants but rather places for smoothies, coffee, or tea. All have small desserts such as bagels, acai bowls, and pastries. Stop by for a quick refresher!
8. Newell “The Den” Den
If you are a fan of fried food, stop by Newell Den for some grilled meat, Italian food, and other food options. If you aren’t a fan of quick fast food, then this may not be for you.
9. Newell Dining Hall
This dining hall is not one of my first choices but is not terrible. On some days, there are excellent food options, but most of the time is really your typical fast foods such as pizza, Macaroni and Cheese, and French Fries. If you are a picky eater, then you may not get enough for a meal. My recommendation for dining halls is West Village if you want to get more for your meal.
10. Liberal Arts “LA” Café
Located in the College of Liberal Arts Building on the 4th floor, this place mainly serves as a chill spot for students in between classes. They have light sandwiches and snacks. If you are hungry and looking for something that is more filling, I would try going to the University Union for food.
11. Paws
Located on the 1st floor of the University Union, Paws is a place for students to hang out from early in the morning to as late as 2am on weeknights! Paws has a stage, pool tables, and individual study spots with a TV! It is a great place for friends to hang out! The food however, is mainly fast food that is often greasy and unhealthy. Their milkshakes however are great in my opinion. If you don’t like greasy and fatty foods, I would skip out on eating here.
12. Glen Dining Hall
This is a dining hall that I would not recommend for anyone to eat at. Located in the center of the Glen Complex, Glen Dining Hall is open from 7am to 7:30pm. Eating at Glen feels like you are eating at a middle school cafeteria, and has often negative reviews among 75% of students. However, I can say that their breakfast and pasta station is great for students who are in a hurry. Glen also has a marketplace where you can splurge on all of your meals for the week. However, in general, I would not eat here even if I wanted to waste a meal.
