As the oldest of four kids, it is clear that my parents' style of raising me versus my younger siblings impacted me. We are always expected to be the mature one, and while this is annoying at times, it works in our favor. While being the oldest has its perks, there are also downsides.
1. You got everything the latest
Whether that's a cell phone or to watch PG-13 movies, the oldest siblings usually get privileges latest.
2. You were automatically a free tutor for your siblings
3. You followed all the rules
4. And you probably didn't eat much junk food as a kid
5. You know how to take charge
6. And you are probably the most studious one in your family
7. You never got the sex talk
8. Or the date talk
9. And you probably didn't curse until high school
10. You always had a curfew
11. Your parents got all the materials they could get their hands on when it came time for college applications
12. And you feel extremely awkward when your siblings are suddenly taller than you
