The rap game is huge right now with influences from Cali, Atlanta, New York and The Six. With so much competition, many rappers can go unnoticed, even with their lyrical geniuses. We all know big names like Drake, Future and Ye, so here's to the guys who don't always get the credit they deserve.
1. Mac Miller
His flow is amazing and brings sounds of old school rap with the simple beats and freestyle verses.
2. J. Cole
In 2014, J. Cole released 'Forest Hills Drive' where Cole earned his first million-selling album AND he has no features from other artists on the album. Yet, Cole still didn't win the Grammy for Best Rap Album.
3. Ab-Soul
Signed to TDE along with Kendrick and ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul joins the duo with influences from Cali rap. With his sharp vocals and unusual flow, Ab-Soul provides real rap with thought provoking lyrics.
4. ScHoolboy Q
With sounds of Cali rap, Q puts real life struggles in his rhymes and vibes with hip hop style beats. Nas and Biggie are some of Q's biggest influences and you can definitely hear that in his unique sound.
5. Logic
Maryland rapper Logic, raps with nice flow and fast rhymes. Logic differs from other rap artists with his lyrics in which he preaches peace, love and positivity. His long verses are witty, quick and nostalgic.
6. Childish Gambino
If you have never watched Gambino's 'Sway in the Morning' freestyle here it is! Only one listen of Gambino's rap will blow you away with his incredibly witty lyrics and continuous flow.
7. Curren$y
With features with big rap names like Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne, Curren$y stepped into the rap game with ease. Curren$y kills his own beats as well as on a cypher with other artists. His lyrics show influences of southern, underground rap mixed with gangster rap.
8. K Camp
Atlanta-raised rapper K Camp has catchy lyrics and features with artists like Fetty Wap and 2 Chainz. K Camp's beats are perfect to bump in the car or at the club.
9. Earl Sweatshirt
Part of OFWGKTA with Tyler the Creator, Sweatshirt has freestyle sounding versus with witty and morbid lyrics. His flow is smooth and fluid.
10. Casey Veggies
Known for his work with California based rap group, Odd Future, Veggies also became a solo artist, featuring on tracks with Mac Miller, Ty Dolla $ign and Wiz Khalifa. Veggie's songs are filled with west coast vibes and unique flow.
11. Chance the Rapper
Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, brings vibrant and loud beats with unique rhymes. Ye isn't the only good rapper to come out of Chi town. Chance brings a jazzy spunk to rap.
12. Joey Bada$$
With sounds like old school hip-hop, Joey Bada$$ brings a revival of simple hip-hop beats mixed with smooth flow. Bada$$ adds a hippie vibe to east coast rap with his urban instrumentals and steady lyrics.
