Ah, resolutions.. The reason why I never go to the gym in January. They're also the reason why people are in the spirit for change and ask about what you want the New Year to bring. Maybe it's cheesy, but I think this time of year is a great time to think of ways that you want to improve your life. My New Years resolution is to be more organized in 2017. When life is organized, we can breathe freely that we're doing our part in knowing what to expect and lets us feel more in control. Resolutions may seem hard to follow through sometimes, but all it takes is choosing something you actually want to try. You could choose to take something away but if so the key to finishing is to take baby steps and start small. Personally, I think a lot of people go wrong in trying to strive for perfection right away. Change doesn't happen like that. I'm sorry to break it to you, but you can't expect yourself to go from eating Chick-Fil-A every other night of the week to just ditching it altogether for a New Years goal. You can't expect yourself to commit 5 days a week to a gym membership if you haven't been to the gym in years. Instead of losing 20 pounds for a weight loss goal, why don't we try setting a goal of simply trying to live healthier? Set realistic goals for yourself.
It's so relieving to have 2016 draw to a close. Let's just say the first thing we should try to agree on in 2017 is to avoid talking about 2016 altogether. In all seriousness, hopefully, 2017 brings some peace of mind and fewer divides overall. This year let's not forget to live and spend more time feeling alive. So stop waiting until the weekend to have fun. Life isn't about balancing work and reward, it's about finding the reward in what you do with your life. Maybe the whole thing is cliche, but the idea of new beginnings and the New Year has always been exciting to me. Looking ahead, I hope 2017 brings a year of sticking to goals, good friends, and fun times.
