The word relatable is one of the most commonly used catch phrases in 2015, being thrown around by teenagers everywhere in serious contexts and when joking around. Everything you see nowadays is relatable in some way, shape, or form. From situations you see in public to characters you watch on TV, it is all relatable. With the holidays coming up, here are twelve ways that the Grinch from "Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas" is relatable.
1. Time Management
Between balancing work, school, and a social life, by the end of the day, you barely have time to lay wallowing in self-pity.
2. Emotions
You learn to love, hate, and loathe people entirely. You make friends, you lose some, and that is really a cycle that continues through life.
3. Being Hungry
No matter how old you get, you are always hungry. You find yourself eating when you are busy, when you are bored, and of course, when you are starving.
4. Going Out
Going out with friends requires an immense amount of effort after a long day of school. Do you really want to go out, or do you want to stay home and watch "The Grinch?"
5. Seeing a Cute Baby
This is probably just me, but who else gets so excited when they see a wicked cute baby? Also, the Grinch as a baby is probably the cutest thing!
6. Christmas
I LOVE CHRISTMAS SO MUCH.
7. The other 364 days of the Year
Okay, only 364 days until Christmas. I can do it. I believe in myself.
8. Picking an Outfit
A daily struggle. WHAT WILL I WEAR!?
9. Trying Foods
I am a very picky eater, and going over to other people's houses is very challenging, especially around dinner time, when they are giving you random food that you have never encountered before.
10. Unrealistic Goals
Throughout life, we always have those unrealistic goals, such as owning a mansion or becoming a celebrity. Yes, they can happen, but not always as easy as we think.
11. Relationships
Friendships are important, and as I said before, you win, some you lose some. But the ones you keep forever become the most important people in your life. And sometimes, you may even find that special person that has you feeling all types of ways.
12. Laughing at your Own Jokes
I always laugh at my own jokes, because I generally think I am just more funny than other people think I am. Laughing at your own jokes, I find, builds my self-confidence, so why not?
Although you may think you are the loving and caring person you are, there are moments when you are actually the Grinch, reeking havoc on Whoville and maybe (hopefully not) ruining Christmas.
