Sorority recruitment is really hard. Almost two weeks filled with long days, a lot of listening and retaining, and being on your feet all day. And talking to complete strangers. While always keeping a smile on your face. Might as well throw some humor in there.

1. When you get pulled from the lineup.

You know what you're supposed to do, it just catches you off guard, okay?

2. When they say we're going to run the rotation for time.

At least I have my sisters to talk to and my phone to play 4080 and My Free Zoo Mobile.

3. When you ask yourself why you spent so much money the week leading up to recruitment.

This is one of the only times of the year where a tan, teeth whitening, and nails done all at the same time is acceptable. Treat yo self.

4. When you can't find the girl you're supposed to bump.

It's fine, everything is under control. Just keep smiling and don't let everyone see you looking like a lost puppy.

5. Getting out of bed the week of recruitment.

Trying to look put together at 6 a.m. is hard.

6. When you're leading your PNM out the door and you're on the wrong side.

Hahaha have a nice day! Ignore me while I bump into everyone and mess up everyone's line while trying to smile and not freak out!

7. You've repeated the question three times and she still can't hear you because it's so loud.

I'm just going to start smiling and nodding so this doesn't get more awkward than it has to be.

8. Trying to smile after the 15th round.

By this time of the day you've turned into a robot. When you get up to the door to welcome in a PNM, you zoom up into an "I'm-pretending-I-haven't-talked-to-50-strangers-today" smile.

9. When everyone is loudly talking seconds before the round starts.

There's talking, but there's mostly people screaming "SHHHHH".

10. When you zone out and have a sudden flashback to your own recruitment experience.

Ahhh yes, remember the good old days? Constant anxiety, exhaustion, and hurting feet? But then you remember when you opened your bid and wish you could experience that again.

11. Thinking about how little sleep you're about to get.

It's fine! Because the next week class starts and... you'll never have a normal sleep schedule again.

12. But realizing it's all worth it when it's bid day, you get new sisters, and you get to eat desserts at 10 a.m.

Bring on the new nuggets, thousands of pictures, and all the food.

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. But with sorority recruitment... that's a whole different story.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
