12 Things You Miss About Living With Roommates When You're On Break

Going home for the holidays is always exciting. You get to see your family, your dog, your high school best friends. You get to visit all your favorite food places and eat home-cooked meals. After going away to college and moving into your own space though, you realize you miss your new home away from home just as much -- especially the people you live with. Every day and every moment is spent with your roommates, so what happens when we are forced to go without them for three weeks? You are bound to miss these things about living with your bffs when you are spending days apart over the holiday breaks.

1. Raiding their closets.

You went from having three closets of options, to the one suitcase you filled to take back home with you. What the heck are you supposed to wear now?

2. Making everything a musical.

Turns out it is possible to make a song about anything and everything. This makes everything more fun. Without your costars to your daily musical, everything feels dull.

3. Having no one to get ready with.

Who is supposed to tell you your eye shadow is too dark or veto that outfit before going out?

4. Group efforts on text messages.

Great, now you're going to have to over-analyze that text from your crush by yourself.

5. Having someone constantly documenting your life through pictures and videos.

You hate them in the moment for taking that bad picture of you and saving it, but you know it'll be funny to look back on. Mom and Dad won't find the same joy in you taking an embarrassing picture of them and sharing it for the world to see.

6. Invading each other's personal space.

When you're with them, you never get a minute alone. There are no personal boundaries, so what are you going to do now that you have all this freedom? This is weird.

7. Sleepovers.

Because who doesn't love having a sleepover with their best friends every night?

8. Always having someone to control your online shopping habits.

You need someone to tell you you don't need another striped shirt, but now that you're on your own, it's much easier for you to justify it to yourself. Don't worry, they'll reprimand you about it later (even though they will end up wearing it).

9. Constant support.

Sure, you can send them a text in your roommate group chat over break, but it's not the same as having a conversation in person. You miss their pep talks and shoulder to cry on.

10. Having no one to binge-watch Netflix with.

Watching a whole season of "New Girl" in one day doesn't sound as pathetic if you say you didn't do it alone.

11. Always having someone who is willing to get food at all hours of the day with you.

When you're home, you family is probably asleep at 2 A.M. When you're with you roommates, you know they're awake and probably having the same craving for pizza that you are.

12. Laughing at the absolute dumbest things.

Everything is funnier when you're with them.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
