In a previous article, I mentioned that my future daughter would learn life lessons from "Grey's Anatomy." This show has made me laugh, cry (A LOT), and it has taught me so many things that aren't medical related (but I did learn a few medical things, so I'm basically a doctor.)
1. Don't let other people's wants eclipse your needs.
Even if it's Derek Shepherd.
2. Find your person.
Your person is so much more than your best friend. They're the person you can turn to no matter what. You can have more than one person, too. I definitely do have more than one. I have persons (or people, if you will)
3. Have some fire
Being normal is boring. You should be extraordinary.
4. It's ok to be scared.
It means you still have something to lose.
5. And make mistakes
Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days, even Derek Shepherd.
6. But those mistakes don't define you.
Don't let it define you because nobody is perfect.
7. If you love someone, tell them.
As the "Grey's" theme song used to say, "Nobody knows where we might end up." The person you love could be taken away from you at any moment.
8. Never be afraid to tell it like it is.
If you have an opinion, share it. Even if it's blunt.
9. Never give up
Fight until you can't anymore.
10. Life goes on.
Bad things happen all the time, and we can chose to let those things hold us back, or we can move on with our lives. Either way, the sun will come up tomorrow.
11. Let go, and move on.
If you don't, then you won't grow.
12. When all else fails, dance it out.
Sad? Dance it out. Stressed? Dance it out. Mad? You guessed it. Dance it out.
