If you were a kid in the nineties "Toy Story" was on one of your overused VHS tapes. Whether it was the hilarious scenarios or the visual appeal, the first "Toy Story" film captivated many of us, and was the beginning of a long winning streak for Pixar. Woody and Buzz Lightyear became some of your most beloved Disney characters.
As time goes on and you grow up, favorite childhood films like the "Toy Story" films don't get the attention in your life like they once did. After a recent babysitting stint a viewing of the first film reignited my nostalgia and reminded me of the many things the Toy Story films taught me about life and the world around me.
1. Empathy for others is important.
Because you understand that empathy for others is a good thing, but maybe not so good to tell them directly to their face.
2. It is okay to question credentials when it comes to your health.
3. Community is a cool way to connect with others.
4. Heavy lifting isn't for everyone.
Everyone has their own strengths whether they are physical or mental, everyone is their own person.
5. Activities and hobbies have no gender.
Do what you like and like what you do, it doesn't matter what stereotypes society has initiated, we all have the power to accomplish our dreams.
6. The sun can hurt sometimes.
It hurts for people, toys and food alike, and that is why protection is key. Unless you are a toy being tortured by Sid, in that case you're doomed.
7. Pizza fixes problems.
8. You can never be replaced.
9. Life will hit you like a ton of bricks.
Especially college, and anything that means growing up, but that is okay because you had forewarning, and it is never as bad as you would imagine.
10. Culture is a building block of knowledge.
Knowledge is power, and with that power you can accomplish so much, so stay in school kids.
11. Confidence is key.
People skills are essential in a social world, and this early lesson has gotten many of us to where we are now.
