A wise woman once told me that pursing my husband doesn't have to be expensive or even extravagant for that matter. After all, the whole point is meant to usher a couple into quality time with their spouse to keep that passion burning. I've learned that the more time you invest in your relationship, the more value it holds, so I've collaborated with my husband to get both perspectives on how to make the most fun out of your time together. Here are 12 inexpensive date night ideas:

1. Go start a fire, literally.I'm serious! Some of the best times my husband and I have had are simply cuddling up next to a fire. Whether it be a bonfire (with a burn permit), or one from your very own fireplace, simply enjoy each other by relaxing next to the glow.

2. Movie Night In.Instead of watching a movie at the theater, make it more intimate by grabbing a movie from the Redbox. Throw in some popcorn and head back home to enjoy your own personal theater. Bonus tip: Make a fort (or love haven) to watch it all from and amp up the experience.

3. Go Dancing in the Middle of Nowhere. I'm from a small town so you don't need to search far to find an old dirt road or an empty field. Once you find a secluded place, crank up the music and dance your heart out with your honey.

4. Have A Paint War. Grab some paint from your local craft store and enjoy the thrill of plastering your spouse with the colors of the rainbow.Bonus Tip: Grab a canvas, do your war in the buff and become human art tools for some pretty unique bedroom art.

5. Go Fishing. If your the outdoor type, going fishing is a fun way to spend time with your main catch.

6. Cook A Nice Meal. Instead of going to a restaurant, bring the same atmosphere home by cooking a meal together and enjoying your creation over a nice candlelit dinner.

7. Camp Out. Even if it's just in your own back yard, leave the electronics in the house and spend a night under the stars with your better half.

8. Go Out For Ice Cream. You can never go wrong with ice cream, or my personal favorite, a huge bowl of decked out fro-yo.

9. Take A Bubble Bath. If you have the space, create your own personal spa complete with candles, music (and of course the bubbles), and relax with your love.

10. Watch Your Wedding Video. Take a trip down memory lane and get lost in the moment you first said "I do", all over again.

11. Play A Game Of Trivia. Not just any game of trivia, take turns asking each other anything and everything and get to know each other better.

12. Watch The Sunset. A great way to enjoy winding down from a long day is by watching God's glorious creation with your hunny. Bonus Tip: Sunsets on the beach are absolutely stunning.

Now that you have some ideas, go enjoy your spouse and stoke that fire!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
