Curly hair can be a pain in the butt and it can also be a huge blessing. But there's no in between, and most of the time it sides on the side of being a pain in the butt. Here are 12 things you know to be true if you a girl with naturally curly hair.

1. Washing your hair is such a pain.

It takes so much time to try and make the curl lay right. Is your hair going to cooperate? Will your curls be a little flat or one step under afro? Is this conditioner going to make my hair frizzy? How much conditioner can I really use? Is half a bottle too much?

2. Searching Pinterest for cute hairstyles is a waste of your time.

"The 'curly hair' in these tutorials are from a curling iron." "NO!! You can't brush dry curly hair!!!" "Ugh, my hair never looks that nice when I braid it." "Never mind, I am just going to give in to the beast."

3. How many days can I get away without washing my hair?

People expect curly hair to be messy. Meh, some hairspray will do for today.

4. What is that monster in the mirror when I wake up?

I roll around so much. Such a mess.

5. Commitments to ponytails.

All day long.

6. There is no hairstyle that you can sleep in to make a curly hair look good in the morning.

Not one.

7. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT A PERM?!?!

Why would you ask for this?

8. What is it like to flat iron dry hair and have it be straight?

Trying to flat iron already dried curly hair is ridiculous. Pointless-- unless you're looking for something that looks half crimped.

9. Diffuser on a blow dryer is a must.

Do not even try to use that blow dryer without the diffuser. Maybe skip the blow dryer all together.

10. You are used to having frozen hair in the winter.

Leave the house with wet hair at 8 a.m. and around 9 you are defrosting.

11. You are a pro at messy buns. A pro.

Because that it the one hairstyle that you can almost always rely on.

12. But at the end of the day, you would never change your hair.

Because seriously, the volume can be helpful. So can the thickness.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
