I love country music. It is my go to music when I am down or want to feel super patriotic. I feel like country music has so much more meaning than the everyday cookie cutter pop songs.
Country songs talk about loving, real heart ache, working hard and enjoying life. Lots of people think country music is lame, but I think within the lyrics life lessons are told.
Below are 12 of my personal favorites that take me back to good old days, have special meaning to me, or are just tunes that people may hear me blasting from my dorm room.
1. Bless the Broken Road- Rascal Flatts
"This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you"
This song just kills me every time. It makes me relax and remember loving times with family and friends.
2. Chicken Fried- Zac Brown Band
"Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up"
It is the little things in life that make me happy.
3. Humble and Kind- Tim McGraw
"Hold the door say please say thank you
Don't steal, don't cheat, and don't lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind"
I grew up knowing how to respect people. This is just a simple song to remind everyone that it is so easy to be kind.
4. American Country Love Song- Jake Owen
"In every town and every place
There's a boy who's tryin' to take a chance and dance
And find a way to run away with her heart
In the back of an old Ford truck
In the bar just lookin' for love"
This song makes play the lyrics out in my head like a story. I just love it!
5. May We All- Florida Georgia Line & Tim McGraw
"May we all get to grow up in our red, white and blue little town"
I grew up in a decent sized town, but still small enough to be able to run into people at the grocery store. This reminds me of home.
6. Take Me Home, Country Roads- John Denver
"Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong"
It is always awesome to be able to go home and see old friends and family.
7. Workin'- Big Smo & Alexander King
"I woke up this mornin', tied my boots up
'Cause I knew it's goin' to be a long day
Fired my truck up, grabbed my coffee
Kissed my baby, got on my way
'Cause I'm workin' 'til it's hurtin'"
I love this song because it is so true. Hard work is key to being able to be successful and happy in life. I want a husband who will work hard and be proud of it.
8. Answer To No One- Colt Ford & JJ Lawhorn
"I won't back up, I don't back down
I've been raised up to stand my ground
Take my job but not my guns
Tax my check till I ain't got none
Except for the good Lord up above
I answer to no one"
I listen to authority, but sometimes I like to just go off and do my own thing (but still abides with the law). This is such an upbeat song that I love to blast in the car.
9. God Bless the U.S.A- Lee Greenwood
"And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me"
This is for my Mom. She loves this song. That is all.
10. From The Ground Up- Dan + Shay
"And we'll build this love from the ground up
Now 'til forever it's all of me, all of you
Just take my hand
And I'll be the man your dad hoped that I'd be"
This is a great example of what I want my future to be like. A man who is respectful and someone my dad will approve of.
11. Country Must Be Country Wide- Brantley Gilbert
"In every state, there's a station
Playin' Cash, Hank, Willie, and Waylon
In foreign cars and four wheel drives
There's cowboys and hillbillies
From farm towns to big cities
There ain't no doubt in my mind
Country must be country wide"
Believe it or not, California is country. Country is everywhere. Deal with it.
12. John Cougar, John Deer, John 3:16- Keith Urban
"And I'm a child of a backseat freedom, baptized by rock and roll
Marilyn Monroe and the Garden of Eden, never grow up, never grow old
Just another rebel in the great wide open, on the boulevard of broken dreams
And I learned everything I needed to know from John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16"
This is a song that I will randomly blast. The lyrics are great and I appreciate Keith Urban as a person as well.
