As upsetting as it is, as the weather starts cooling down and fall arrives, it’s time to put away our summer attire and break out the fall pieces. The upside of the weather changing is it gives every girl an excuse to go shopping. This fall you can find clothes to keep you warm while giving you a stylish appearance. Don’t suffer in itchy sweaters and puffy jackets, revamp your fall wardrobe with these simple twelve items.

1. Jean shirt

One of my absolute favorite fall pieces is a jean shirt simply because they are so versatile. You can wear it buttoned up or open with a shirt underneath it, which allows you to still wear some of your favorite summer tops under. Despite the jean material, it still manages to keep you warm without giving you the lumpy appearance a sweater gives. Don’t be afraid to pair it with more denim jeans! You can dress it up with jeans, booties, and statement jewelry or dress it down with leggings, moccasins, or flip flops.

2. Booties

Nothing screams fall more than booties. Booties can give your outfit the extra push it needs to take it from casual to trendy. They’re like the middle ground between flats and heels; they’re easy to walk in and super cute. This fall I suggest getting more than one pair simply because they come in so many different colors (black, beige, brown, taupe, etc…) and many different styles (suede, leather, fringe, zip-up, slip on, open toe, open heel, etc…) and they can go with any outfit you have, not to mention you can wear them all throughout the year. Booties for fall can be paired with long sleeved peasant dresses and high socks, tights and an over-sized top, or any other outfit you can think of.

3. Over-sized Sweater

An over-sized sweater is great for chilly days, if you’re feeling bloated, or even just when you don’t feel like going all out. Paired with leggings underneath and either booties or boots, it ensures that you will be kept comfy and warm on those chilled fall nights while still looking put together and stylish.

4. Flannel Dress

A flannel dress is an awesome piece to have in your wardrobe. It combines the warmth of a flannel with the femininity of a dress. There are many different ways you can wear the flannel dress which is one of the reasons that it is so great. The flannel dress can be styled with tights underneath (leggings if it’s cold) and booties or with jeans and sneakers.

5. T-Shirt dress

T-Shirt dresses are every lazy fashionista’s dream. They are easy to throw on, flowy, and can be worn casually or dressy. For a more casual look I like to pair my plain white T-shirt dress with white high tops, a flannel around the waist (the flannel around the waist can come in handy if you get cold and need a jacket), and a cute head wrap since it is fall. To create a dressier outfit, the t-shirt dress can be paired with knee high heeled suede boots, a wide clutch, and a boater hat (such as the one pictured).

6. Scarves

Scarves are great for both fall and winter. They work as an extra accessory to complete your outfit and give it a fall feeling. Infinity scarves look and feel great because you can either wear them long or wrap them for a shorter scarf. These kind of scarves specifically look great when paired under jackets such as leather ones or even denim ones.

7. Riding boots

Riding boots are great for absolutely any type of outfit for fall. Whether you want to wear a dress, leggings, or jeans with them, riding boots will give you a classy look. You can pair them with cute knee high socks to accessorize them or wear them just as is. A cardigan and leggings looks great with them as well as jeans and a blazer for that preppy look or whenever you need to look professional but want to still be warm.

8. Faux Fur vest

A huge part of fall is the ability to layer you’re clothes and a faux fur vest is perfect for doing just that! The vest allows you to have cute sweaters or shirts still show through while the faux fur keeps you toasty. Faux fur vests are a great and quick way to make any outfit look more polished without spending a fortune (I bought my vest at Target!). There are a few different ways I like to style fur vests. You can pair a fur vest with a button up shirt, dark jeans, riding boots, and a statement necklace. You can also style it with a long sleeved dress and knee high boots, or for a more comfortable approach, a long sleeved thermal, leggings, and slip-on Steve Madden sneakers.

9. Leather skirt

Leather skirts are great because you can wear them during the day and at night when you go out. The leather texture of the skirt gives off a more wintry vibe and it’s perfect for fall afternoons outside. There are a few ways to wear a leather skirt in fall depending on your style. For a more chill look a band t-shirt tucked into the leather skirt with booties looks great. Dressier ways to style the skirt include with a light sweater tucked in, tights and small heels, boots, or booties. A cropped sweater also looks awesome with longer leather skirts.

10. Mini Backpacks

Mini backpacks have become a must have item whether you are a student or not. The brilliant thing about mini backpacks is that they act as a purse which you don’t have to hold while accessorizing your outfit. They’re are slowly becoming an alternative to cross body bags and are super convenient whether you go out to a frat party or are walking around the city and don’t want to be bothered with lugging your heavy purse everywhere. They can be worn with virtually anything from sweatshirts and leggings to skirts and sweaters.

11. Tank Maxi Dress

While it may be getting colder outside, maxi dresses allow you to still be able to wear dresses without freezing. Tank maxi dresses look awesome on everyone whether they are tall or short. I think they look best when knotted to the side and paired with slouched booties and a wide brim fedora (you can find ton of cute ones at Urban Outfitters). On cooler days you can also pair the maxi dress with a long trench coat (pictured above on Kim Kardashian) and gladiator sandals.

12. Poncho

Ponchos are a trendier alternative to cardigans and jackets. There are two possible styles of ponchos that you can get. The one which you slip over your head with only a head hole or the open one which you wrap around your shoulders. While I prefer the open wrap around one, both look chic and are must haves for fall. The open wrapped poncho goes great with leather leggings, knee high heeled boots, and an over-sized bag. You can also choose to accessorize the poncho by holding it shut with a thin belt.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
