12 Easy Things To Do To Fix A Bad Mood
Isabel Barganier

I'm a firm believer in the idea that everyday is a good day for a good day. I am definitely an optimist and love to see the good in every day. However, some days, a bad mood is hard to shake. A bad mood can come out of nowhere and really try to bring you down. These are a few REALLY simple things that I like to do if I need to turn my day around!

1. Go to Target.

#Basic, but I'm not gonna lie, it does help! I’m not sure what it is about Target, but for me, it’s a really calming place! If I'm feeling down, I like to leisurely walk around and look at it everything: from clothes and make up to coffee mugs and snacks!

2. Make someone else’s day!

Thinking outside of yourself is pretty much a guaranteed way to feel better. I’ve found that when I forget about myself and whatever is getting me down, and shift my focus to how I can help or focus on others… I feel SO much better. Buy a friend coffee or a bag of their favorite candy, or even just send someone an encouraging text! Making someone else smile will without a doubt make you feel better.

3. Do something new or adventurous that you’ve been wanting to do.

Life gets mundane sometimes, especially in college when every weekday is pretty much the same thing. Think of something that you’ve been wanting to do, or a new place you want to go to… and go for it! For me, I like to explore a new thrift store or find a cool coffee shop to go get an iced almond milk latte! ;)

4. Go to a cool coffee shop.

^ ^ ^ And like I said above. Coffee shops are the perfect place to go when you need to chill out and feel better. There’s always someone you can chat with and usually, coffee shops have a calm, cozy vibe. Caffeinated coffee probably won’t calm you down, but getting out of your dorm and being in a new place will.

5. Watch YouTube videos.

Shamelessly, this is something I enjoy and find relaxing. Three of my favorite people to watch are Danielle Carolan, Emma Chamberlain, and Cody Ko. I think it’s good to have something like this you can go to to get inspired or just for a laugh. It can help get your mind off of any thing you’ve been stressed about, by taking a few minutes to look into someone else’s life. Highly suggest!

6. Surround yourself with people who make you feel GOOD.

Spend time with friends who make your heart happy. Be around people that make you feel better, just by being around them.

7. Treat yourself.

Whatever that means for you! Whether it's a meal you’ve been craving, going to a movie, getting your nails done… a fun treat like that can definitely help.

8. Talk it out.

Getting down to the root of how you're feeling and expressing the thoughts running though your head can totally turn your mood around. It can be a hard thing to do, and you may not even know what to say. But, just being able to get the negative thoughts out can free your mind and disconnect you from the bad mood. Find a listening ear or if you can't, just jot it down!

9. Wear an outfit you love.

Wearing your favorite outfit or even just a cozy shirt can really help when you’re feeling down by boosting your confidence and making you feel more comfortable.

10. Look up quotes or Bible verses on Pinterest.

I love doing this and ALWAYS find really beautiful, inspiring quotes or sayings. It’s so easy! I like to search things such as “quotes about positivity” or “bible verses for when you’re stressed.” I find that it’s really calming to scroll through and see if anything resonates with me.

11. Get outside.

Fresh air and sunshine are powerful! Thankfully, Spring is on its way which I feel like boosts everyone's moods! Go on a walk or just sit outside and breathe! Bonus points if you ditch your phone and just enjoy the beauty and peacefulness!

12. Drive and listen to music.

This is a pretty simple activity, but it’s something I really love. It makes me feel like I'm in a movie. ;) Maybe just avoid sad music, and choose songs that will make you smile and lift your spirits.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
