Boys, take some notes. You're about to get educated. I'm going to to let you in on a little secret: us girls, yeah, we're really not that complicated. I like to think that in my 19 years of life that I have figured out the female brain a little bit so I'm about to give you guys some pointers. Here are the dates (none of which are “Netflix and Chill," for the record) that girls want to go on that boys would never think to take us on. They're simple, fun, cheap, and will leave your girl bragging to all of her friends about how awesome you are.
1. A trampoline park
I mean let's be real who doesn't love trampoline parks. On the plus side, there's pretty much one within driving distance of basically everywhere nowadays.
2. Food
But not fancy sit-down food because we think that can be awkward at first. I would guarantee you that a girl is more likely to turn you down on a date if you tell her you're taking her to a nice fancy restaurant. Here's the truth: nice fancy restaurants make us nervous especially if we don't know you that well yet because it leaves too much room for too much awkward forced conversation and despite common belief, it makes us uncomfortable having you pay for expensive things for us in front of us. Aim for more of a chill pizza place or a really good burger joint.
3. A night under the stars
Cheesy, I know. Whether it be in the tail bed of your truck or camped out in your backyard, almost every girl has dreamed of this (or at least retweeted it) in hopes of someone actually doing it one day, but the sad truth is I don't know a single girl that has ever actually had this happen to her. Be that guy. I promise she'll remember it and you for a long time. Plus, it's a perfect opportunity to tell your girl how much she means to you and girls love hearing how important and awesome they are.
4. The Drive-In
Because movie theaters are too quiet and dark and cold.
5. The Zoo
Call me a five year-old, but this would be totally awesome. Pick a nice day with good weather and take a walk around the zoo. It's adorable.
6. The Humane Society
I mean what girl doesn't love puppies? They have cats, too, if you're into that kind of thing I guess.
7. Seasonal things
This is actually relatively obvious and yet so many boys are clueless. If it's fall, take her to the pumpkin patch and buy her a cheap apple cider slushy and she'll totally eat it up. If it's winter, take her ice skating or to see Christmas lights downtown. If it's summer, a water park is always a good idea or just take her to get some ice cream somewhere local. If it's spring, picnics are always cute especially in really pretty parks.
8. Anywhere with a view
This speaks for itself. It's so basic, but so true. I don't mean you need to carry her to the top of Mt. Everest or take her to see the Northern Lights. I just mean take her to a cute lakeside or pond or just park your car at the top of the hill and catch the sunset. Girls are suckers for good views.
9. The lake
This one is especially good if you have a down-for-anything, adventurous girl on your hands. There's endless amounts of things to do at the lake: tubing, cliff-jumping, water-skiing. The list goes on and on. Even if your girl isn't the adventurous type, there's always fishing or tanning or picnics on the dock. A day in the sun is always a good idea.
10. Paintball or Laser Tag
A date both you and your girl will have fun on.
11. Theme parks or fairs
Almost every seriously awesome date in every romantic movie happens at one of these two places.
12. On an adventure
If you know a cool waterfall or a hiking trail that leads to somewhere cool, go for it. Take her exploring somewhere she's never been. Anything unique that she wouldn't be able to otherwise do without you is a great idea.
