College couples, rejoice! Listed below are super fun and inexpensive ways to get out and about without draining your already dry bank accounts. Grab your boo thing, and get out there!

1. Cook, then have a picnic.

There's no need for a fancy restaurant when you've got perfectly good Hamburger Helper, a soft blanket and a favorite spot nearby. Just whip up that skillet life saver and venture on out!

2. Go star gazing.

This is one of my all-time favorites. I absolutely love jumping in the car and driving into the middle of the country to see the beautiful, sparkly sky. Not to mention, it's super romantic.

3. Go on a coffee/ice-cream run.

Between exams, jobs and being a generally busy college student, this is a perfect way to treat yourselves in the middle of the work week. Just pick a destination and get some sweet treats!

4. Go Geocaching.

It's kind of like a treasure hunt! This is the perfect adventure for when you need some variety.

5. Check out local festivals.

I live in a relatively small, artsy college town, so there's always some kind of festival or local music going on. Go downtown and check out the talent! I'm sure there's more to your city than you realize.

6. Get outdoors.

Wherever you are, you can get close to nature. Go find a hiking trail, or venture out to the nearest body of water. Go hammocking or fishing, or even just sit beneath a tree and soak up all nature has to offer.

7. Exchange cheap gifts.

Okay, so I definitely stole this from Pinterest. Here's what you do: go to the mall. Alot each other five dollars, and whoever comes back with the coolest cheap gift is the winner! I'm definitely going to try this one out.

8. Go to an arcade.

One of the best dates I ever had was in a cheap arcade in a mall. We walked in, dropped five dollars on tokens and spent our tickets on prizes for each other. He got one of those rubber popper things, and I got an inflatable hammer that still rides around in the back seat of my car. It's for when my passengers get unruly.

9. Stay in and have a movie night.

What's better than curling up with a good movie, hot cocoa and popcorn to watch your favorite flick? Not much. I can tell you that.

10. Take a nap together.

Literally, just go to sleep. Naps a life-savers, especially in college. Why not veg out with your significant other and enjoy some time together catching some z's?

11. Make a dessert together.

Brownies, chocolate chip cookies, name your poison and then pig out. There's something super romantic about baking. I just can't put my finger on it.

12. Have a game night.

Play Scrabble, Call of Duty, soccer, whatever floats your boat. It'll be good for you to get into the competitive spirit every now and again.

You don't always have to put on your best attire and go out for a fancy meal. This short list of date night ideas can kick-start any adventure. Have fun, kids!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
