The time has finally come! 21 is the age we all can’t wait to get to, and by the time you’re reading this, I hope I'm somewhere sipping on a Corona with lime, legally.

As my 21st birthday approaches, I’ve done some reflection on my life and the things I've always wanted to accomplish before this milestone.

Here are 12 things I’ve been able to cross off my bucket list before turning 21!

1. Getting my driver’s license

We’re all expected to get it by the time we’re sixteen, but of course, my mom didn’t think I was ready to get it. I felt like I would’ve had to wait years to get it, but luckily she gave in by the time I was 17. Thank you, sweet baby Jesus.

2. Going to Disney World

Disney might as well be called Heaven on earth. It’s always been the most magical place to me, and if I could live there, I would. Growing up with little to no money, I never thought I’d see the day I’d get to go to Disney World. Luckily, I was a music nerd in high school and had the opportunity to go as a part of the choir. Singing + Disney = Heaven.

3. I was on TV

No, it wasn’t anything crazy. Trust me. But, because I was choir nerd in high school, I devoted all of my time to singing and had the opportunity to sing a solo of, “The Christmas Song” on ABC 7 News. Even though it was only 30 seconds, it was the most nerve-wracking 30 seconds of my life.

4. I tried out for American Idol

I wasn't kidding when I said I devoted all of my time to singing. At age fifteen, I guess I thought I was ready to take on American Idol and be the next Kelly Clarkson. Yes, you guessed it. I won. No, I’m kidding I didn’t make it past the first round. But at least I had the cojones to do it right?

(P.S. I saw Ryan Seacrest. Yes, he really is that short in real life.)

5. Going away to school for college

Ever since I could remember, I’ve always wanted to go away to school. College seemed like a fairytale land. Actually being here, it’s exactly what I wanted: freedom.

6. Losing my virginity

SURPRISE!!!

7. Living on my own for the first time

Each year of college, I’ve had a different roommate. Most recently, I had the chance to live alone for a semester, and honestly, I loved it. I enjoyed having the place to myself and learning more about what responsibility really means. Being alone really can teach you some important lessons.

8. Getting my first internship

When I first came to Illinois State University, I didn’t even know where to begin. Luckily my lady squad here were so incredible and took me under their wing. Without them and their help, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to even apply for one. Now, I’m proud to say that I have two internships! Who would’ve thought?

9. Getting my first credit card

GASP. Yes, I’m just scared as you are. Credit cards do not equal free money. I’m just going to sit here and keep repeating that to myself.

10. Partied hard

If there’s one thing your girl likes to do, it’s to have a good time. Alcohol or no alcohol, there are no boundaries.

11. Saw my favorite artist of all time live in concert

I've loved her since I was 10, so of course, I had to see Demi Lovato in concert: up close and personal. Not only did I see Demi Lovato live, but she walked past me, and I cried. To get the full story, click me.

12. Fell in love

Even though I’m very independent, I’m a huge sap for romance. I love everything about love, and falling in love is what I've striven for. It doesn’t matter who it was. But he will always hold a special place in my heart even if he wasn't the right one.

As much as I complain about how long it’s taking me to turn 21, I can’t believe it’s already here. These past 21 years have gone by so fast, and I didn’t even realize it until I took the time to think about the things I've done during my lifetime.

It’s important to celebrate yourself.

So, here’s to me: for turning 21, and for doing the 12 things you’ve always wanted to do before you turned 21. Now, drink up!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
