12 Country Songs For Your Summer

It comes as no surprise that Country music ranks third highest in the U.S. as everyone's favorite kind of music, and if you're like me, it is almost a basic part of your life; God, family, and country music. It's not only a major part of my life, but also a huge part of the lives of the people around me. We live on it, and sometimes, that's how we get through the hard times. As summer hits and more and more artists begin to drop new music, we have to decide on the sounds of summer! This is one of my favorite parts of the year because music can shape your day and change your mood. It's easy to figure out which songs would be better played blaring while flying down the road with your hair flying in the wind or your hand hanging out the window.

1. "Noise" by Kenny Chesney

Not only is this song great for playing at all of your summer parties, but also for just playing around the house. It's a great pick-me-up, and it keeps you moving. It is versatile, and has a great energy.

2. "Snapback" by Old Dominion

Okay, so it didn't come out this summer, but it hit big right before summer came, so it totally counts! This is one of those songs that you hear guys talking about. Every guy, whether they admit or not, is reminded of the one he loves when he hears a certain song, and this song definitely qualifies as one of those.

3. "From the Ground Up" by Dan + Shay

Looking for a song to send your summer love vibes out? Try this one. This is one of the cutest songs I have ever heard and it is great for inspiring love and affection. It brings good feelings to light, and it would be great for those summer slow dances in the headlights.

4. "Move" by Luke Bryan

If this song doesn't make you want to get up and dance, there is something wrong with you. No, but seriously, I just heard this song for the first time today, and I can't stop listening to it. It's Luke Bryan, so it isn't really surprising that it makes you want to get up and move.

5. "Church Bells" by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood is notorious for writing songs that inspire women, and this one is no exception. It tells the story of a woman who marries a man who hits her, but as always, she gets the last laugh when she spikes his whiskey. I love this song because I can relate to it, and while it is difficult sometimes, Underwood makes it easier with songs like this. #girlpower

6. "I Like the Sound of That" by Rascal Flatts

Songs like these are great for romantic nights or dates with the one you love. It is so full of emotion and love, and with the crooning voices of the members of Rascal Flatts, it's no surprise that people listen to it over and over.

7. "Lovin' Lately" by Big & Rich ft. Tim McGraw

This isn't really a cutesy romantic song, but it has a good message. I hadn't heard it until a friend recommended it to me, but I really like this song. It's a great song for hen you get a little down or late at night when you can't sleep.

8. "T-Shirt" by Thomas Rhett

This song makes me want to get up and dance. I don't know why, probably because of the beat, but it makes me want to get up and move around! I love it because it's so fun and it's Thomas Rhett. He's lovely.

9. "Better In Boots" by Tyler Farr

This is another great song that makes people think about their loved ones. It helps inspire feelings and emotions, and is great for parties, dancing, and just riding around with friends.

10. "Lights Come On" by Jason Aldean

This is one of the best summer concert songs I have ever heard. It actually details the night of a concert and how everyone goes crazy when the "lights come on". We all know that feeling you get. That rush that hits you when you see the performers on stage at a concert. You cannot contain yourself, and you get a little breathless and suddenly all the lights are on and you are singing back every word. That's what this song is all about.

11. "Huntin', Fishin', Lovin' Everyday" by Luke Bryan

I love this song because you can really understand the passion behind hunting and fishing for Luke Bryan. If you haven't seen him hunt with Jason Aldean on the Outdoor Channel, you're missing out, but at least this song sheds a little light on his passion for the outdoors.

12. "It All Started With a Beer" by Frankie Ballard

This is a great song for a ride around town with the one you love or a dance to remember. It's great for a party or dancing or even just having some down time.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
