I've noticed that a lot of the time that I have become a beacon of advice for some of my friends either back in my hometown or at college. I am not sure how useful the advice that I give actually is, but nonetheless, here is a list of 12 random, cheesy, and useful advice that I hope that you (and to be honest, I) take to heart

1. Be Happy, not just content. There is a clear difference of liking the direction you are walking in and loving the journey that path is taking you.

2. Live for now, not for tomorrow. Do what makes you happy now. It doesn't matter what you want to do if you don't have the chance to actually do it.

3. Don't settle...both with people or goals. You will get more if you dream more. That's just a fact.

4. Hang out with people who make you a better person. Don't treat people as a first priority if they treat you as their last option.

5. Don't be afraid to be loved. Sometimes, it's hard to open up with new people...and I have major problems in that department, but sometimes it's nice to know people will be there.

6. Start the day or week with something you love to do. Especially in college where stress is omnipresent, it's always good to have a little of positive in your life.

7. Compliment people! Don't fake compliment anyone, but when people deserve a little credit, don't hold back on it! It makes people happy!

8. Make goals but also achieve them. There is no better feeling when you do something that you have had on your bucket list for years! So don't wait years to accomplish things you can do in less time.

9. See the good in the world. Yes, life can seem like it's dull and horrifying, but if we only the negatives in ourselves and the places around us, it only makes us feel as if we are not good enough. And believe me, you are good enough.

10. Look after yourself. Mental health is a big part of being able to deal with the everyday things, but it is also the hardest. The hardest step can be admitting when you need help. But it can also be the best decision you ever made.

11. Laugh once a day. It brightens up your day and causes you to live longer, so win win!

12. Listen to every side of the story. It's hard to be in someone's shoes when you really don't know what they are dealing with. However, the best thing is to just be there, listen, and don't judge whatever they have to say. Sometimes, more than advice, people just don't want to be alone with their troubles.

There are so many important pieces of advice (although cheesy), but you just need to know that people affect the ones around you. So, use your powers for good, and nobody can stop you from being the best person you can be!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
