Food: the essence of our life.

Food is a beautiful thing; and it's even more beautiful when you don’t have to work so hard to feed the moments when cravings hit you. Nothing beats a fresh home cooked meal or the convenience of fast food; but if you’re feeling a little lazy, here are some foods you can cook up in the infamous rectangular box we like to call, "the microwave."

1. TV Dinners

This famous microwaveable meal is always a good idea. With a variety of meal choices, this classic never goes out of style.

2. Soup

Ahh! Nothing beats the warmth or taste of a good soup whether you're at work, school, etc.

3. Baked Potato

Always a favorite in my household. A dab of butter and a slathering of sour cream, with some fresh chives...mmm! I'm practically drooling right now!

4. Ramen

Of course, how could ramen NOT be on the list! This is a personal favorite for those late night studies and midnight cravings.

5. Mashed Potatoes

Can't go wrong with mashed potatoes!

6. Mac n' Cheese

This golden delight hits home every time.

7. Microwaveable Sandwich

Not as good as a fresh, hot sandwich, but a substitute worth having or trying if you haven't, yet.

8. Oatmeal

Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Who says you can't enjoy breakfast all day long or as a snack?

9. Nachos

Since starting college, nachos have become one of my dearest friends. A layer of tortilla chips, shredded cheese, jalapeños, salsa, and sour cream, are my must-haves when my classes and homework have drained me of all my energy.

10. Steamed Vegetables

You're probably wondering how this one here made the list. To tell the truth, if you're like me, you get those cravings for fresh veggies from time to time. A dollop of butter and a sprinkle of salt and pepper bring these earthly delights to life. Yum yum!

11. Popcorn

Who can resist the buttery taste of hot popcorn? Not me. Popcorn and a movie anyone?

12. Frozen Burritos

I'm not a fan of burritos. There I said it. But my personal preference should not in any way deter you from embracing these little guys. Filled with meat, beans, and cheese, burritos are packed full of delicious goodness.

I hope this list can be of some help when looking for hunger satisfaction.

Enjoy and stay safe! :)

xoxo

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
