12 Artists That Will Spice Up Your Summer

Summer is all about good people, good times, and good music. We all know those songs that take us back to our risky adventures and endless sunburns. No matter what you're doing this summer, here are some artists that can spice up your summer soundtrack:

1. Alan Walker

Alan Walker, has broken top charts with his track, "Faded." Especially popular in Europe, this British-born, Norwegian DJ has been noticed by record labels at only 18-years-old.

2. Jai Wolf

Jai Wolf, or Sajeeb Saha, gained his big break from his remix of Skrillex's "Ease My Mind." Since then, he has played at Coachella and Bonnarroo, and has been killing it.

3. Burak Yeter

Originally born in Trabzon, Turkey, Yeter pursued his education in London to get his masters in Sound Engineering. Particularly known for his DJ schools in Amsterdam, Istanbul and LA, Yeter has created thousands of certified DJ's.

4. Kiiara

From our very own Illinois, Kiiara has recently signed with Atlantic Records. Her single, "Gold," has gone Platnum in Australia, and continues to take over charts around the world.

5. Alex Schulz

This German DJ has been recognized for his remix of "Never Forget You" with over 2,000,000 plays on Youtube and SoundCloud, and it's still available for a free download online.

6. Gazzo

Originally from New Jersey, Gazzo is the self-proclaimed "Remix King." You can probably find your favorite songs with a new Gazzo twist for this summer.

7. Deep Chills

Deep Chills, originally from Milano, is known for being very active with his fanbase. You can check him out here.

8. Klingande

This French duo has a soft spot for the Swedish language. Their name, "Klingande," is Swedish for "chimes." Sounds like the perfect name for their melodic house music.

9. The Him

Jeroen and Steven come together to make "The Him," a music production group from Amsterdam. This groups has gained popularity from their musical cross between indie and deep house.

10. Cheat Codes

This DJ trio from LA has been taking over with their retake on a classic song, "SEX." You can check our Matt Russell, Trevor Dahl, and Kevin Ford here: https://soundcloud.com/cheatcodesmusic

11. Jordan XL

Jordan XL, whoever you are, well done. Make sure to also check out his Ria Mae remix of "Gold."

12. Jerry Folk

To top it all off, this Norwegian DJ is about to go on his first North American tour all throughout summer! I know I'm going.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
