12 Apps That Make Life Easier For College Students

Our generation loves apps. We're obsessed with Flappy Bird, Instagram, 2048, Trivia Crack, Snapchat, and there's an app for most restaurants and retailers. We live in the digital age, so why not use it to our advantage?

1. EasyBib

For me the worst part about writing a paper is having to cite everything. If you've ever used an online citation generator, you'll know how much easier they make things. Now you can have one in the palm of your hand!

2. GradeCalc

This app allows you to answer the question that everyone asks- what is the lowest grade I need to get on this test to pass the class? You can enter all your information and it will help you calculate your grades.

3. My GPA

Sure, you could calculate your GPA by hand the old fashioned way, but who really wants to do that? This app does it for you.

4. Chegg

I use Chegg to buy textbooks all the time and the mobile app is a perfect way to use it whenever and wherever you need. You can search for, rent, and buy textbooks as well as use eBooks through the app.

5. CliffsNotes

This app is a mobile version of the well loved Cliff's Notes series of books. I used SparkNotes in high school but they do not have an app. On the CliffsNotes app, you can buy summaries of books used in many English and writing classes.

7. Blackboard

My college uses Blackboard as an online grade portal and it also has a mobile app. If your school's grade portal has a mobile app, I highly recommend downloading it because it makes it easier to check your grades when you are away from your computer.

8. Freedom - Reduce Distractions

One thing I always struggle with is eliminating distractions when studying. This app allows you to do just that. You can block some of the distractions on your phone for a set amount of time so you can be productive.

9. Venmo

If you've never heard of this app do you even college? This app allows you to transfer money to your friends. It makes pitching in for pizza night or re-paying someone when you forget your wallet easy.

10. Quizlet Mobile

Let's be honest, everyone has been using Quizlet since high school. I didn't start using the mobile app until college which is surprising considering I would always study on my phone before a class.

11. Mint.com

The creators of programs like Intuit QuickBooks, this app allows you to budget your money and track where all your money is going. Since college is the first time most people have to budget their money, this app is helpful for keeping track of your finances.

12. Wunderlist

Do you ever find yourself writing things on scraps of paper or on your hand in the hopes you won't forget things? With this app you won't have to do that. You can keep track of your schoolwork, tests, upcoming events, and anything you'd need reminding of. If you have this app on your computer as well it will have the same lists on both devices so you can stay organized with whatever you're doing.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
