Things we all do but hate to admit

11 Weird Habits I Hope you do too
Anna Talcott

The other day my co-workers and I were sharing the weird habits that we do at work. I shared mine expecting to get an, "OH MY GOODNESS ANNA, THAT IS SO WEIRD" reaction that did not get. Instead, it was a simple, "Wait, thats weird because I do that too." So at that moment, it clicked to me that everything I might be thinking is a weird habit is probably actually pretty common to almost EVERY human being on this earth. I am going to share some habits I have been thinking are weird that I hope you do too, if not then I just published an embarrassing article about myself that will probably be read at my wedding and funeral by my best friend.

1. When you have to set about 10 alarms just so you can wake up on time.

I HATE being late.

2. Having an altercation, good or bad, and then having it replay in your head for hours after.

You then think of tons of comebacks and things you should have said and done differently.

3. Liking things that are universally loved, but pretending it’s a unique side of you.

You are one in a million.

4. When you try to tell a funny story but can't because you laugh the whole way through.

Most of your friends claim they never know the full story, which probably goes a little something like this:

"Laugh, Laugh, half word, laugh, laugh, word, then laugh more, forget what you were saying, next conversation."

5. Going to a coffee shop to do work, but ending up just people watching.

This is why I can no longer go to Starbucks to study during finals week or any week at that.

6. Talking to your pets.

Yes, I do talk to my cat Princess and yes, her name is Princess.

(I use Facetime when I am away at school more to talk to my cat than my family.)

#notashamed

7. Talking with your hands.

For those of you that know me, you know talking with my hands sometimes can better communicate what I am saying.

8. Walking around a store for an hour contemplating one object because you want it, but don't need it.

It becomes a frustrating experience for you because you keep putting it down then picking it up.

9. Putting everything you own in your purse.

You know, just in case there is an attack and you have to move up into the mountains.

10. When you're meeting someone new, so you rehearse a conversation in your head before.

Because you do not like awkward encounters.

11. When walking around a store, sometimes you can visualize a cool Instagram photo.

Or you set up things in a cafe a certain way to take a picture because it matches your aesthetic you try to go for on your profile. (Totally Guilty as we can see below.)

There is so many more I can share but just in case I am setting myself up I will stop here. Well I hope even if you do not share any of these weird habits with me, you could at least laugh at them.

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.
