The First 11 Weeks Of The Trump Presidency, As Told By Memes

This presidency has been a wild one. Every week something major happened, and I've decided to put together a list of memes that accurately describe each week so far.

1. Week One: 1/20-1/27

The best things to happen in Trump's presidency happened on day two: the Women's March. The largest protest in history. Against Donald J. Trump (and other things but for right now that's what matters).

2. Week Two: 1/27-2/3

Week two was the original Travel Ban. More protests, more ignorance, and even more Donald Trump trying to say that it's not a Muslim Ban, just a Travel Ban from majority Muslim based countries. That's all. Nothing wrong with that. Right?

3. Week Three: 2/3-2/10

This was great. Felt like just yesterday Trump tweeted, "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!" But poor Donald didn't realize that he was just in court and, in fact, would not be seeing them in court again for a little while.

4. Week Four: 2/10-2/17

Week four, General Flynn was forced to resign. We got a lot of mixed signals from his officials. Kellyanne Conway said Flynn had "the full confidence of the president" while Sean Spicer emphasized many times that "the erosion of trust was, frankly, the issue." He also reminded people many times that he speaks for the president.

But then, Trump got to speak for himself.

"'General Flynn is a wonderful man,' Trump said. 'I think he’s been treated very, very unfairly by the media — as I call it, the ‘fake media,’ in many cases — and I think it’s really a sad thing that he was treated so badly.'

'I think it’s very, very unfair what’s happened to General Flynn, the way he was treated, and the documents and papers that were illegally — I stress that — illegally leaked,' he added. 'Very, very unfair.'"

5. Week Five: 2/17-2/24

A lot happened in week five, but one of the things that got the most backlash was Trump rescinding Obama's guidance to protect transgender students under Title IX. He received harsh feedback from the community, supporters, and advocates of the LGBTQ+ community.

6. Week Six : 2/24-3/3

On February 25, Trump banned many news outlets (CNN, The New York Times, Politico, and the Los Angeles Times) from attending a briefing. Not so surprisingly, outlets that are seen as more friendly to the Trump administrations were allowed in (Breitbart, The Washington Times, and the One America News Network).

7. Week Seven: 3/3-3/10

No one was happy with TrumpCare, and someone finally realized that health care is really hard :(

8. Week Eight: 3/10-3/17

In week 8, Maddow made Trump into this great guy for paying his taxes... in 2005. This proves nothing, Maddow! He paid his taxes over 10 years ago.

9. Week Nine: 3/17-3/24

Trump tried to attack Meryl Streep in week 9. She said, in her Golden Globe Acceptance Speech, that he was a hateful person. What did he say? He said she's over-rated.

10. Week Ten: 3/24-3/31

In week 10, trump spent his seventh weekend at Mar-a-Lago. It seems like Trump thinks being president is a normal M-F, 9-5 job because so far, is vacations have cost taxpayers over $24 million, twice as much as Obama's travel bill over eight years.

11. Week Eleven: 3/31-4/7

More recently, Trump told reporters on Air Force One, "I think we've had one of the most successful 13 weeks in the history of the presidency." It's pretty scary to see this man with his approval ratings so low and still thinking he is "the best."

And apparently now he can tell the future? Glad that he's so confident the next two weeks will go smoothly... too bad the first eleven were actual shit.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
