11 Tips to Make the Most of your Spring Break
Richmond Times-Dispatch

Spring break is rapidly encroaching upon us- do you have plans yet? You don't need to jet off to a tropical resort or other lavish getaway to enjoy your spring break. Simply having a break from school for a week is enough of a refresher. Read on for 11 ways to make this spring break your best spring break yet.

1. Take a break from Netflix.

Seriously, do you want to waste all your time over spring break mindlessly watching episode after episode on Netflix? Instead, block yourself from Netflix for the week and allow yourself to actually enjoy life not find amusement in the lives of television characters.

2. Make sure that you have all your work done before you leave for your spring break.

After all, spring break is supposed to be a break. Get your work in order before you leave so you won't be worrying over some assignment that's totally not worth the stress.

3. Make plans with your friends.

You know you've missed them! Cherish this time that you have with them before you head back to school for another three months.

4. Maybe even visit one of your friends at a different school for a night or the weekend.

Visiting friends at other schools is always fun and spring break is a perfect time to do so. Spring break schedules of different schools don't always line up so if your spring break isn't the same week as your best friend's break is, take a weekend to visit her at her school. You're guaranteed to have a blast.

5. Take advantage of the museums in your hometown.

Be sure to use your student ID for a discount on admission! (or scout out the free museums)

6. Take time to smell the roses.

Spend time outside and enjoy the beauty of the nature surrounding you.

7. Explore and discover new places in your hometown that you haven't ventured to before.

Maybe you'll find your new favorite spot in town!

8. Treat yourself.

You didn't splurge for a lavish spring break vacay so use this week to treat yourself as your budget allows. Maybe this means treating yourself to eating brunch out a few times or purchasing those shoes that you've been obsessing over but haven't been able to bring yourself to splurge on. Or maybe this means trying out a new face mask or other sort of pampering (mani-pedi anyone?)

9. Visit your favorite spots in your hometown.

As they say, there's no place like home!

10. Cuddle up with your pets.

Oh how I've missed my pups! I can't wait to be back home with them.

11. Start thinking about your plans for the future.

I know, I know, it is spring break and it should be a break but take a couple hours one day to sit down and think about what you'd like to do with your future. Graduating this May? Look into companies that you would like to work for and start applying. Looking for a summer job? It's not too early! Look around now to snag the best summer gig possible. You may dread thinking about your future and planning it out but once you do and you have a game plan, you'll feel relieved and more confident about your future.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious.
