11 Ways To Destress

The spring is a busy season for a lot of people. College students are preparing for finals, and a lot of events go on during this time of the year. Here are some ways to destress when you find yourself pulling your own hair out:

1. Going For a Run

While exercising may not seem like the best idea, running and walking are great for your health. Not only is it good for your health but it will help you forget about the stressors in your life!

2. Spending Time with Loved Ones

Whether it be friends, family, or a significant other, spending time with the people that you love is always a good way to destress!

3. Treating Yourself

Take the time out to eat your favorite food or rest a little. Remember that no matter what is stressing you out, you deserve to be happy more!

4. Watching Your Favorite Movie

Get some popcorn, a drink, a blanket and your favorite movie. Nothing says stress-free like a night to yourself with your favorite movie! Not only will you be entertained, but you also may forget about what will be stressing you out!

5. Plan Ahead

Make sure that you start studying for that exam early, or plan your busy days out thoroughly. At least you have rehearsed the stressful days on a piece of paper before you have to go face to face with them.

6. Listen to Music

Play your favorite song, sing and have a dance party if you'd like! Listening to music and dancing is a great way to destress!

7. Taking a Nap

Whether or not taking a nap helps you solve the problems, it sure does feel good to catch some z's throughout the day!

8. Face Your Problems

Try not to avoid what is stressing you out, because it is bound to grow. No big problem, exam or event will go away if you ignore it. If anything, the problem grows out of proportion.

9. Never Give Up

Whether you have a whole night of studying ahead of you, a busy day at work, or other stressors in your life, never give up!

10. Relax A Little

Sometimes you need to give yourself a break, and that is perfectly fine! Resting a little bit between working is a great idea to destress!

11. Make Time To Take Care of Yourself

Don't forget to care for yourself in the mist of being busy. Just because you have a busy day ahead of you doesn't mean that you shouldn't eat or relax. Overworking yourself is not good for your health!

No matter how stressful things can get, do not forget that de-stressing is just as important as whatever is stressing you out! Stress is not healthy and with these steps, distressing after a busy time is extremely important!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
