As the end of the semester nears, and the dreaded final exams get closer, it is critical to stay healthy during this time of the year. That is why I have assembled five tips to keep you healthy and energized for this critical time period.

1. MAKE SURE YOU'RE EATING HEALTHY!

While it may seem tempting to make a late night run to Taco Bell or finish off a large pepperoni pizza with your roommates, it is imperative that you avoid these type of situations in order to stay healthy. Instead, stock up on healthy snacks, like hummus or granola, that will allow you to stay healthy and energized, without giving you a sugar crash!

2. AVOID PULLING ALL-NIGHTERS!

As more essays and exams cloud your schedule, there may be nights where you feel as though you have to stay up all night to study for an exam or write a paper. However, try to do your best to avoid this. When you pull an all-nighter you ultimately negatively mess up your sleep schedule for weeks, and can also contribute to nasty illnesses and migraines.

3. EXERCISE REGULARLY!

Exercising regularly helps reduce stress and aids in digestion to prevent any illnesses or stomach issues. It also allows you to take a break in between your long hours of studying.

4. DRINK GREEN TEA!

Green tea has many health benefits to help you maintain your good health during finals week. Along with that, green tea is also a great way to naturally get caffeine to stay alert and focused during school.

5. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF!

Whether it's taking some time to meditate, watch Netflix, or even hanging out with friends, finding some time to do what you like will allow you to decompress and get recharged for your next round of studying. It's actually proven that taking short ten minute breaks in your studying allows you to stay more focused during the entirety of the study session.

6. PRACTICE MEDITATION OR YOGA!

Download a meditation or yoga app on your phone to help you feel centered during a time when nothing seems to be going right. This will reduce stress levels, and ultimately aid in your overall relaxation and well-being.

7. EAT BREAKFAST!

While it may seem like a cliche phrase, breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. Loading up on a healthy and filling breakfast will give you the energy you need to tackle the day ahead of you.

8.STAY ORGANIZED!

Staying organized will prevent you from getting overwhelmed when finals week hits. Try making a list of every assignment that is due before the semester ends, and cross off each item as you finish it!

9. STAY HYDRATED!

Staying hydrated is essential during these stressful times. Try carrying a large water bottle with you throughout the day to make sure you get your recommended intake of water during the day. This will prevent migraines and other stress-related health issues.

10. START STUDYING NOW!

If you start studying now, you will retain more information then you would have if you studied everything the night before. It will also leave you feeling more relaxed and ready for your exams.

11. REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN!

While finals is a stressful time, it's important to find some time for you to have some fun. Whether it is laughing at a stupid meme someone sent you, going out to karaoke night with your friends, or just playing Mario kart, it's important to find some time to unwind from your crazy schedule. This will help lift your mental well-being.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
