A best friend is your person to come to when things are going well, when things are going terribly, and when things are completely normal and you want to watch Netflix and order pizza. Here are 11 characteristics of best friends:

1) The Smirk.
You know that smirk. When you find yourself talking in a group and someone says something that only you and your best friend would laugh at. Since it would seem out of place to laugh, you exchange slight smiles out of the corners of your eyes, knowing that you will laugh about it later. Yep, you're best friends.

2) Dancing Styles

Whether you're winning the dance off together or you're off to the side of the dance floor awkwardly swaying to your own beat, best friends tend to stick together in their dancing styles.

3) Brutal Honesty.
You are completely comfortable telling each other when the other person is being an idiot. Or when their haircut makes them look like a bird. Or when their new boyfriend makes you want to shove your fist through a wall.

4) Permission for Intervention.
You two are not afraid to step in when the other person is about to do something stupid. They may wrestle you to the ground when you are trying to send that drunk text, or hide your car keys if you've had a couple drinks.

5) It's a Love/Hate Relationship.
Other people may think you hate each other because of your profanity-adorned nicknames and the blunt way you act in public, but it is all out of a sisterly love.

6) You Know Pretty Much Everything.
You know what foods they hate, their low points, their favorite movie, all of their mom's pet's names, how to tell when they're lying, what every single facial expression means, and everything in between.

7) You Don't Need a Constant Conversation.
Even if you go a year without seeing each other, you will still maintain your friendship. A strong friendship is based on a mutual appreciation of who you are as people. That won't change in a year.

8) You Become Best Friends with Their Girlfriend or Boyfriend, Too.
If your best friend loves someone and you love your best friend, chances are it will be easy and natural to form a friendship with their SO.

9) Ugly Snap-Chats.
These are the kinds of photos that would make you socially exile yourself if seen by anyone else. It's normal to keep a running feed of scary hideous snaps going to keep the day interesting. If they are true best friends, they will screenshot the snaps and save them in the arsenal of ugly photos they have of you.

10) You Know How to Deal with Their Drunk Side.
You spend most of the time laughing and having fun, but you know what song to play if they get sad-drunk and you know exactly what they need to make them feel better if they get sick. You will make sure to take care of them because you know they have returned the favor and probably will again.

11) You Know You'll Always be Best Friends.
There are some relationships that fade and form as you grow, but one permanent relationship is the one between you and your best friend.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
