The 2000's have produced many quality chick flicks that are important for young adults to watch as the grow up into adult life. These films are underrated and teach us lessons that are surprisingly relatable.
1. Monte Carlo (2010)
I really connected with this movie and loved it's sense of adventure and message of putting yourself out there. The scenery of France from the movie is also beyond beautiful!
2. Juno (2007)
This quirky film shows people that mistakes happen and it's pretty common to wonder about the success of love. Juno teaches us about being vulnerable and how embrace your individuality.
3. Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
The classic chick flick is an example for us to remember where we came from and listen to your heart.
4. Enchanted (2007)
This underrated film is both live action and animated and connects multiple disney movies. It places the fairy tale dream in real life and tells us to believe in the power of true love and that you should never let others stop you from believing in your dreams.
5. Tangled (2010)
One of my favorite Disney movies, this movie reminds us to follow our gut instinct and to follow your dream.
6. Uptown Girls (2003)
Uptown Girls is wonderful story about a young lady that matures throughout series of hardships and emphasizes that you can learn from kids.
7. Freedom Writers (2007)
Probably one of the most inspirational movies of all time (plus it's based on a true story), teaches us to put ourselves in other peoples shoes and to remind others how much they matter. One teacher can truly change students lives.
8. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)
This iconic movie is an example of genuine friendship. It shows that distance means nothing when it comes to true friends, learn from others, and that your friends will help you get by.
9. Aquamarine (2006)
This movie came out when I was kid, but I still love it! Aquamarine is about forming strong friendships at unlikely times and to remind that you can't rush love.
10. A Cinderella Story (2004)
Who doesn't love Hilary Duff? A Cinderella Story is about staying positive throughout your hardships and pushing yourself to be the best you can be.
11. The Princess Diaries (2001)
Princess Mia's awkwardness makes her one of the most relatable characters in movie history. This movie reminds us it's okay to be different and have courage.
Although some of these movies may seem cliche, their relevance to the confusing beginning of adulthood is totally relatable. Chances are you first watched most of them as a kid, but now as a young adult you fully get the meaning behind them. With the last few weeks of summer approaching, I recommend getting comfy and watching these old chick flicks!
