Sometimes it is easy to tell where a person is from, but if someone is from Texas, it is super easy to tell. The stereotypes of Texans are more like the minority of Texans. Not all Texans are the same, but we all have similar aspects that make us Texans, and I am proud to be a Texan.
1. You take football games more seriously than you should.
Anyone who went to high school in Texas knows that Friday nights are for football. Friday Night Lights, baby! If you didn’t go to the game, what were you doing? When football season is over, it’s like sports are over. Pep-rallies and school spirit revolve around football.
2. TexMex is your favorite meal.
I eat TexMex so often that the waiters and hostess know my name. My family even gets to skip the line sometimes because we are regulars. Now that’s just sad. I actually ate TexMex today.
3. If you aren’t eating TexMex, you’re eating WAB.
WAB is where everyone gets honey-butter chicken biscuits after the football game. For all of you non-Texans, WAB is What-A-Burger. Isn’t it a cute acronym?
4. You have a surplus of table tents from WAB.
I don't know why, but stealing the table tents from WAB became a huge fad. Everyone I know has at least one, if not 40, of them.
5. “You all” is not a thing…It’s “y’all.”
I don’t have a southern drawl, but “y’all” is just proper English.
6. We do not ride horses to school.
I am setting the record straight. If you believe that we actually ride horses to school, I’m going to assume you have never been to Texas. Where would we put the horses while we’re in school? Would the parking lot just be one big barn?
7. Tailgating is an event of its own.
Tailgating is also the only time girls actually wear cowboy boots. Cowboy boots are more of an accessory rather than a necessity.
8.Bipolar weather is a norm for you.
You can be wearing shorts one day and a parka the next. In fact, it sometimes changes even hourly. You never know what to expect when living in Texas.
9. You love Bluebell.
Other ice creams just do not compare to your love for Bluebell. You are still a loyal costumer even after their listeria crisis.
10. You know that it takes a substantial amount of time for you to get out of the state of Texas.
Half the length of road trips is just getting out of Texas.
11. You have die-hard state pride.
Texans are proud to be from Texas and they let it show.
