I moved to Redding in September 2011 to go to Simpson University. I discovered Redding because of Bethel Church and was surprised to find that it is a unique place. It is a small town spread out over a large area, full of adventure and familiar faces. It is highly influenced by the Christian community, yet still cries out for the hope of God to shine through its darkness. Here is a list of some of the comical and more serious truths that you have most likely confirmed or encountered in this beautiful place! #reddingtruths
1. At almost any coffee shop, you will hear more than one person talk about Jesus.
2. You come to terms with the fact that owning an umbrella is completely useless because the rain comes in at a slant.
3. You've definitely brought visitors to the Sundial Bridge, even though you don't really go there any other time.
4. When people from out of town hear you're from Redding, they ask if you go to Bethel.
5. You can access lakes, good camp sites and snowboarding only 30 minutes away from town.
6. It's not uncommon to hear that a major worship artist is going to perform in town.
7. You've definitely jumped into Hatchet Falls a time or two.
8. Any temperature below 95 degrees is considered a reprieve in the summer.
9. Most foreigners you meet are going to the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry.
10. On Good Friday, you join the 100 churches that worship together! A display of church unity at its finest!
11. You go to Movies 8 quite frequently! #saidnooneever. I mean, its called the dollar theater. Duh!
Although some say that Redding lacks entertainment or excitement, I would say that Redding is a treasure chest, full of adventure and beauty that must be sought out!
