11 Traits Of A Type-A Personality

Type A personality. A temperament characterized by excessive ambition, aggression, competitiveness, drive, impatience, need for control, focus on quantity over quality and unrealistic sense of urgency. Those of us with this gene already know all these things. Whether you see this as a blessing or a curse, there is really nothing to do, but live with your innate traits and embrace them! So here are a few traits that we can all relate to.

1. You get told more often than not to stop being so bossy.

It's easy to get caught up in a situation where you end up playing boss instead of team player, especially in group projects. But you know how to get things done and that tends to bring out your bossy side.

2. You like being in control of every situation.

No matter the scenario, picking plans, topics for a project, or just picking the movie to watch, being in control is your favorite. You're able to make sure things work just the way you want them to.

3. Planners, to-do lists and calendars are your BFF.

Planners are a road map of your life. They hold all the important dates for you like exam dates, meetings, lunch plans, paper due dates, and much more. To-do lists, however, are made each day to lay out plans when you know you're going to be busy and they are a God-send.

4. You don't like being told what to do.

It is much better for you when you are the one shelling out plans, but sometimes that is not the case. Taking orders can be difficult when you do not like being told what to do, but you take a deep breath and deal. Or at least try to.

5. Last minute cancellations are your enemy.

Plans are essential to life. They are how you plan your day-to-day life so when that is interrupted by a last minute canceller, there is hell to pay! Okay, not really, but you are still really annoyed and your whole day is thrown off. Too bad you can't have a minimal 48 hour cancellation policy.

6. Detailed plans are your favorite.

Nothing is more annoying than when some asks you to do something with little to no plan. You need date, time, place, and all the specifics. So when someone comes along and gives you just that, you are extremely pleased.

7. You hate last minute plans.

Last minute plans are up there on the list with cancellation when it comes to things that annoy you. When someone suggests doing something spur of the moment and give you little to no time in advance, it makes your skin crawl. You have had to learn to adjust because not everyone is like you, but every time that happens, you are quietly dying on the inside.

8. Being bossy is so second nature to you that you don't even notice that you are.

Again with point one, when people tell you to stop being so bossy, it's hard because if you are like me, you don't even realize that you are being bossy. It's second nature to the point that it comes out without you realizing it half the time. That is, until someone points it out.

9. But coincidentally, it annoys you to be told you are bossy.

And over time you have come to accept said bossiness, but it doesn't make it any less annoying when someone points it out. Yes I an bossy, so constantly reminding me is not necessary.

10. You love when people easily go along with your plan.

Nothing makes a Type-A happier than meeting someone easy going that goes along with all your well laid plans. "That sounds good." and "Whatever, it's all in your hands." are music to your controlling ears.

11. Meeting other people with a similar personality ends up being a match made in Heaven.

Contrary to what one might assume, meeting someone else with the same personality type is a great match. They don't bail on you last minute or ask you to do something right then and there, because they know how much that annoys them. Sharing these traits works in both parties favors even though it doesn't sound like it would.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
