1. It could be your last time with your friends for awhile.
They have been there for you for as long as you can remember. The memories shared between you all are crazy, and you only have so much time left together before heading separate ways. Taking a week or so to end things with a bang as a group could be just the way to go for your senior spring break.
2. It could also be your last time with your family for awhile.
However, where that's been said, for as long as your friends have had your back, your family has been there since day one. Maybe you will still be close to them in a few months time, or maybe you will be 1,000 miles away. In either case, you can still have a killer break spending time with them before you get separated. They have given you everything, so giving them a week of time with you could be everything to them (and you).
3. It's the time to do something totally new.
If you're me, your spring break consisted of first-time trips to three new countries, excursions exploring places I only could have dreamed of prior to the trip and taking over a cruise ship with an unprecedented party of 21 seniors and their families. For me, this was the epitome of a new experience. For someone else, it might be going to a new place, or even staying home. Whatever it is, this spring break is the final time to experience something new as a high schooler before your even bigger new experience: college
4. Think about how much it's going to cost.
It's no secret that college is expensive. A lot of kids save up for it the entire year before in order to make ends meet. But this can be an issue once you get ready for spring break, once you realize your budget doesn't match your dreams. But that's not the worst thing in the world! There are plenty of chances to do exciting things for a low cost if you open your mind and compare prices.
5. Take advantage of any opportunities offered to you.
Some days, you may want to just sit in your room. Others, you may be inclined to sit out by the pool or in your yard and just relax. That's always a good thing, as spring break should be a time to re-charge. But if you have the opportunity to do something incredibly unique and amazing, would you give it up to simply sit somewhere for a day?
6. Have good, safe fun.
You are having the time of your life when someone pulls out a drink and begs you to take a swig, to join in on the fun. I'm already having fun, you think to yourself. And I have to stay clean for *insert reason(s) here.* Well then, stay clean. There's nothing wrong with having some sober fun, no matter what anyone else says.
7. Indulge and throw your eating habits aside for a bit.
While the coveted "Spring Break bod" is always in style, if you want to eat a world-class piece of chocolate cake instead of a salad, no one would blame you. This is the time to show off that body, but give it something you love.
8. Take lots and lots of pictures.
In the wise words of Ferris Bueller, life moves pretty fast, and if you don't stop and look around, you'll miss it. Senior spring break is supposed to be a whirlwind of memories, so taking a moment to document them every once and a while.
9. At the same time, don't live through a lens.
While your phone has surely become a part of you by this point in your life (as it has for me), taking time to put it down and live in the moment is something worth doing. While you will be suffering without your Snapchat and Instagram, you will be living life the way it was meant to be lived.
10. It may be your vacation, but remember it's not all about you.
Even if you want to go scuba diving, your friends may be more apt to go zip lining. You may even want to head out for Mexican while everyone else wants Italian. While your opinion is valuable and valid, sometimes making a big deal when you've been far overruled just creates unnecessary drama. You can still have a ton of fun zip lining or eating delicious Italian food, so enjoy the things that the majority wanted and you'll eventually find yourself glad you did them, too.
11. Enjoy every second of it.
This is pretty much your last big experience before graduation, so love every part of it. It's going to be amazing if you let it be. Have a blast!
