11 Tips For Halloween Horror Nights

The most thrilling, creepy yet fun event is here. This is not a drill, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios is now open until the end of October. Every year on Halloween season, Universal Studios creates the most creepiest, scariest and funnest haunted mansions in all of America using themes of movies and series such as the most popular this year, The Walking Dead. Its definitely an attraction you can't miss. So, If you are going to be part of the thousands of people that attend each year, here are a few tips you might want to consider:

1. Parking is NOT free.

When planning for this awesome experience, make sure you do include parking fees on your expenses plan. Its about $20.00 per vehicle.

2. Eat before the fun begins.

Due to the amount of people that attend each year and the amount of attractions they have, the best tip I can give you is that you eat before actually entering Halloween Horror Nights. You wont want to miss anything and lines at the dinners are going to be longer than usual, so eat a heavy meal before having fun.

3. You will get scared.

Even the tough ones get scared... My tip is, use the safe spots. They have safe spots all over the park that you can take a breather every time you feel like you need to. You will not only get scared in the haunted mansions, but everywhere... You will understand once you get there.

4. Late nights are the best nights.

Many people get tired before the park closes and leave. So the best time to go to an attraction you did not go to during the night, is around 12:00pm-1:00am.

5. Its never too early.

The park will get crowded, get there early. Suggestion time, around 5:00pm so you have no problem whatsoever entering.

6. Mask and costumes ARE NOT PERMITTED.

Self explanatory but if you need another reason, they have enough people in costumes already, they don't need more people in costume. Plus, its for security reasons. They will NOT let you enter the park if you are in costume and your mask will be confiscated.

7. Travel Lightly.

They take security even more serious around this time of year. To avoid being stuck in long lines at security checkpoints, try and avoid backpacks and too much stuff on you. A wallet and your phone will do.

8. Strategy is key.

Have something pre-planned as to where you want to go first. Although I recommend that just be on the lookout for waiting times and just play with the times a little. Start by the most popular one and you won't have to worry about that one anymore during the night. Key word: alternate.

9. Be prepared to not take a break.

There are a lot of things to do on the park at this time. You can take a break later, if you want to see it all, you might as well not take a break. As the saying goes, "sleep is for the weak."

10. Don't get aggressive.

If you know you get aggressive when you drink alcohol, might as well not drink. If you get aggressive when you get scared, might as well control yourself. They will kick you out of the park if you touch or punch someone. The cast is not suppose to touch you, just scare you. So don't try use that as an excuse to punch someone either. I repeat, they WILL kick you out.

11. Finally, HAVE FUN!

Scream, Cry and sob, but most importantly, enjoy it and have fun. Don't say I didn't warn you. May the Halloween gods never be in your favor...

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
