While you are reading this, this is gonna be quite the throwback article; however, when I was thinking of an article idea, Hilary Duff came to mind.

Lately, people have been reflecting back on 2016, and whether it was good, or bad, the worst, or best year, 2017 is a new beginning. Growing up, Hilary Duff was iconic. She was who I looked to when I was a teenager. I loved her in Lizzie McGuire and all the movies she was in. And then she created music. Could life have gotten any better?

So, here I have created a list of where there are 11 times that Hilary Duff's song lyrics made us think about life a little bit deeper.

1. "If it's over, let it go"- So Yesterday

Wow, what a fitting time when we are 10 days into 2017. Let it go, folks- whatever it is.

2. "And going out is better
Then always staying in."- Come Clean

Go live life! Bowl, go to the movies, or even to a basketball game. And go with people who you wanna do life with.

3. "Hey, hey- I'm not giving up, no."- Workin' It Out

When you feel like giving up, don't. Keep fighting, keep going.

4. "Time is beginning."-Anywhere But Here

Every day is a new beginning. Make time for friends, loved ones, and those who lift you up.

5. "But I don't need the stress."- The Math

Don't stress about the little things, y'all. Stress is something that keeps you from being truly happy.

6. "Love just is... you and me."- Love Just Is

Love isn't complicated or does it have to be about someone else in the equation. It's between two people who are just in love- "whatever that may be" (Hilary Duff,) or what that looks like.

7. "Watching the butterfly go towards the sun
I wonder what I will become."-Metamorphosis

This one is about changing and becoming and I know we all have had a moment where we think about who we are, or what career we should go in, or what major we should declare, or even which path we should go on. Don't worry, y'all, you'll become that butterfly also.

8. "Find a dream you can follow."- Fly

Find it y'all and go fully towards it.

9. "And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong."- Someone's Watching Over Me

It may have been a hard year for some, or you are going through a tough time now. But take this lyric and heart from Hilary Duff and just stay strong. I know that may be hard, but know that you're not alone in this.

10. "There's something going on anywhere I go." -Wake Up

Life happens. It's happening right now. So wherever you go, or what ever you are doing and whom ever you are doing life with, life's happening. Make it great.

11. "Why not, take a crazy chance."- Why Not

The most well known song by Hilary Duff back then. Do it people. With 355 more chances this year for opportunities and chances, why not?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
