It's happened to all of us. You're going about your day, minding your own business and then -- bam! You run into that person you've had your eye on. Maybe you're completely confident about approaching this person, but if you're an awkward little creature, like I am, this is probably how your unexpected rendezvous will play out. Don't worry -- it's not so bad in the end!
1. You see them across the room.
OMG, I was not prepared to see you today. How discreetly can I try to hide my identity right now?
2. You accidentally make eye contact.
Welp, you definitely know I’m here now. This is either going to go really well, or I’m going to crash and burn. May the odds ever be in my favor.
3. They smile at you.
How is it legal for you to be this cute? Like, you should be in cute person jail -- and I would totally come visit you.
4. You summon the courage to go talk to them.

5. When you’re trying to stay cool…
I am The Little Engine That Could, and I’ve totally got this. Or, at least, I’m gonna keep telling myself that. Fake it ‘til you make it, right?
6. But you end up making a fool out of yourself, anyway.
I may have spoken too soon. I really hope the words coming out of my mouth are coherent, because I feel like I’ve had a stroke.
7. The conversation miraculously keeps going.
I don’t know what I did, but you’re still talking to me and I am all about it. Please continue, you could read the dictionary and I honestly wouldn’t mind.

Parting is such sweet sorrow -- but maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder? Seriously, what is wrong with my brain right now?
10. You reflect on the interaction.
That could have gone a lot worse, although it probably could have gone a li'l better, too. Let’s hope that I’m more endearing than awkward.
