11 Thoughts You Had During the OU/Ohio State Game
The Oklahoman

Even though the September 17 football game was rocky for our Sooner's, it was definitely one of the most memorable. From typhoons to kickoff return touchdowns, the universe definitely kept things interesting. Here are 11 thoughts every OU fan probably had at the Oklahoma vs. Ohio State football game.

11. "Wait, what even is a buckeye?"

This picture is all of us right now. Native to Ohio (duh), a Buckeye is a tree that produces small, dark brown nuts that look similar to the common acorn or chestnut. Fun fact: they are poisonous to humans.

10. "Ty Darlington said I should be here the whole time so I'm gonna be here the whole time."

On his wordpress page, former Sooner captain Ty Darlington issued a challenge to the student section: don't just be at the game, be a part of the game. Here he is (pictured center in button down and tie) leading the student section.

9. "Please tell me it's not gonna rain..."

About two hours until kick off, massive clouds covered the area above Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. After the announcer urged students to vacate the seating area because lightning was approaching, chants of "Hell no, we won't go" rang throughout Norman, showing the newfound fan dedication.

8. "Oh great this is actually a hurricane, what now?"

A few minutes before the rain began, the game was delayed until 8:10 pm (almost two hours after the original kickoff time). Stubborn students toughed it out until the storm had finally passed about 45 minutes later. Since the stadium staff wouldn't let patrons reenter for the later start time, hundreds of people were held in the concourse area until it was all clear.

7. "Why haven't we scored yet?"

If you listen closely, I bet you can hear hearts breaking all over Oklahoma.

6. "JOE MIXON IS MY HERO!!!!!"

Finally the Sooner's are on the board in the end of the first quarter when Joe Mixon scores on a 97 yard kickoff return. It was beautiful enough to bring us to tears.

5. "He did not just hug him for a touchdown..."

I think this was absolutely a "wtf" moment for all of us.

4. "Nope this does not look good."

From interceptions to missed field goals, the first half was looking rough for the Sooners as they headed into halftime down 17-35.

3. "At least we tried."

With a heartbreaking 24-45 defeat, the rain returned later that night and this time was made up by Sooner fans' tears. The team put up a good fight and we can only hope that this doesn't lessen their spirits for future games.

2. "It's okay Baker, we still love you."

In a post-game interview, Baker Mayfield took full responsibility for the loss saying, "I let this team down. Coach Stoops can beat around the bush, but I let this team down by my performance." He then went on to say that he was going to turn things around and be the hardest working person on the field. We still love you Baker and can't wait to see how you evolve this year!

1. "Live On University"

This is just the beginning for the 2016 squad. Hopefully this bye week will bring good results for when we go to battle TCU in Fort Worth on September 30. Until then, boomer sooner and live on university!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
