It is the year everyone wants to go back to and the year everyone looks forward to. You are shoved into adulthood, moved away from your family, and expected to prosper. Will you? Who the hell knows, but you will definitely (well, hopefully) try your best. While you are (hopefully) trying not to fail at your first year of adulting the following thoughts will probably cross your mind:
1. Well, sh*t this is actually happening
Yeah, it is. Whether you like it or not it is time to put on your big kid pants and journey off into the real world.
2. Highschool didn't prepare me for any of this
Shoutout to high school for literally failing at college readiness and actually teaching me things I needed to know. I am super stoked that I know the Pythagorean Theorem, but barely know anything about paying bills or doing taxes.
3. I should probably just drop out
How many times has this pondered my brain? Probably at least six times a day, but whose counting?
4. I wonder how my dogs doing without me
This is actually code for, "I am doing awful without my dog and I need him here for moral support." Pets are like tiny therapists. They sit there, silent, and just stare at you while you vent. Who could ask for more?
5. Mom was right
Even when she is wrong she is right, let's be honest.
6. Why did I choose this major?
AKA: "Do I really want to spend the rest of my damn life doing this?"
7. Oh, so this is how you do laundry!
Separate. Always separate.
8. Do I really need my degree?
Maybe I'll just drop out, find a nice (wealthy) partner, settle down, and do nothing with my life. That would be a lot easier than cramming for this exam right no.
9. Sleep is my best friend
It may be my best friend, but I get absolutely none of it. So that's cool.
10. Wow, I am broke
I want to work to get money, but to work I need to be trained, and to be trained I need to go to school, but school costs money. Do you see what I'm getting at here?
11. You can do this.
If you can go to the doctor without your mom then I am pretty sure you can do anything you set your mind to.
So, to all you little freshmen out there, you can do it and please (for the love of God) don't actually drop out.
