11 Thoughts I Had While Watching Game of Thrones

After much contemplation, I took the plunge and ordered HBO NOW for their free month trial. I didn't really want to get in over my head, but to be honest with you, I had already started buying Game of Thrones episodes on Amazon for $2.99 an episode and it was starting to become a problem. I was addicted before I could even admit it to myself.

Here are 11 thoughts I had while watching Game of Thrones.

*SPOLIERS*

1. This looks kind of nerdy...

There are a lot of swords and dressing up and old word language in this nonsense. It's kind of hard to keep track of. I don't think this is going to be something that I get into. It's just not my style.

2. I don't think I can watch this show.

On account of the incest, rape, murder and multiple other hard to watch moments in the show, I didn't think I was going to be able to stomach most of the events. How could people watch this? It was so terrible.

3. They killed him? How could they just....

Around the time Ned Stark's head took a tumble, I knew that I was addicted to the show. I had to no more. I had to know where Arya was going and if she would be okay.

4. Arya is my hero.

Despite losing her father and being separated from her family, she immediately acclimates to the situation around her. Thanks to the help of a stranger, she cuts her hair short and fits into the world as a boy in disguise. What's cooler than that?

5. A lot of this is based on some really strong women.

I realize that this show started off being about strong male figures, but can we just pause for a moment and appreciate all the important female strength that has been born from this amazing show?

6. Okay, now there are dragons involved. I'm in.

As soon as Daenery Targaryen came out of the fire with all her dragon babies, my mouth dropped open.

7. Khal Drogo dies of a cut but other people live forever without their fingers and are fine?

Okay, is it just me, or does it seem a little odd that countless other characters lose pieces of their bodies and continue on like nothing ever happened, but when Drogo get's into a fight and gets a nasty cut across his chest, they're suddenly worried about infection?

8. There's dark magic too?

For some reason when the Red Woman crawled into the cave and gave birth to that creepy, demon, shadow thing, I did not see any of that coming. Sure, I knew after Dany tried to save Drogo that they were going to hint at dark magic, but holy crap, that was intense!

9. This is getting so good.

As I gradually got more involved in the show, I realized why people couldn't stop talking about it. Although it was a fictional battle for a throne that didn't actually exist, it was often times very indicative of real life.

10. I think Tyrion Lannister is my favorite.

"I drink and I know things."

This will always be one of my favorite quotes from the whole series.

Tyrion is a sort of comic relief in a show where there are so many dark topics. Despite his bitter, crude remarks, you find a smile creeping onto your face and a refreshing truth to his words.

11. I NEED TO KNOW MORE!

Case and point, I am super stoked for season 7.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.
