There is no better word than bittersweet to describe packing for college. Of course there is excitement and happiness over the thought of being reunited with all of your school friends and having your freedom away from home once again, but there are few things that are more stressful than packing your entire life away. If you're a girl, this packing situation is only about a million times worse (and no, I'm not exaggerating). Just when you think you finally have everything packed that you could possibly need to survive the next few months, you go to your checklist and find you still haven't packed your textbooks. There has to be room for them in your car somewhere, right? Priorities.
1. "Let's do this."
The beginning stage of motivation doesn't last long.
2. "Clothes. So. Many. Clothes."
If you die while packing at least you can be buried in them.
3. "Is it possible to die from inhaling too much dust?"
Going through the leftovers from last semesters packing is a dangerous task.
4. "How did my mattress pad ever fit in that tiny box?"
Seriously, someone please explain this to me. I swear it's grown five times its size since I first bought it.
5. "Do I really need to eat?"
Snacks are bad enough, but when it comes to having to pack real food when you no longer have a meal plan, eating begins to be viewed as optional.
6. "I want to die."
This thought occurs approximately every half hour.
7. "Why did I wait until the last minute?"
You'd think you would know better by now.
8. "I (almost) wish I lived close enough to commute."
It would sure make life easier.
9. "I give up."
Cue throwing the remainder of things that need to be packed into random boxes. oops.
10. "One box done. Time for a nap."
Hey, this is an exhausting job!
11. "Hallelujah."
The moment of finally finishing packing is one worthy of happy tears. That is, until you realize everything is sitting on your living room floor and you still have to pack your car. It was nice while it lasted.
