11 Thoughts I Had While Driving On A Sunny Afternoon

At least they are wearing helmets, but come on.

4. Children don't fear running into the road nowadays and more often than not parents are nowhere to be seen when the children are playing outside.

I remember the days that I would be scolded for hours if I was even close to the edge of the sidewalk, let alone be allowed to hang out by myself in the street.

5. There are no fun sports as a young child, they have to be on a travel team or in a prestigious league. Are we pushing children too hard?

Is it necessary to have children under 10 to be playing competitive sports and be reprimanded when they don't win?

6. Kids are blindly walking across streets because they are staring at their phones. I don't know why they have a smartphone at middle school age.

What is so important on the phone that it is worth missing out on nature, real life, and all the people surrounding you?

7. At 20 years old, I feel so much wiser than I was in high school; I wish I could give hope to those struggling just like I did so many years ago.

Everything seems like it will never get better, these "friends" are the only ones you will ever have, and the high school reputation you have will follow you everywhere, but none of that matters. Grades are not everything either.

8. I wish I could tell all the young adults to not lose hope even though it seems like life is a never ending black hole.

There are way more important things to focus on during the day than the rumor mill and nonsensical things. There is so much life left to live outside of school.

9. I wish I could tell everyone to enjoy the time they have left before becoming an adult.

When the full-time job comes around, you will wish that you had more time in the day to just relax, go on walks, or just spend time with friends/family.

10. I also want to say that all the teachers lie when they say college is going to be way harder than high school when it comes to time management, professor attitudes, and homework. It's quite easier actually. They are not out to ruin your life.

College professors understand the end goal of school. They want to make you as prepared as possible for the real world and work life. They are human beings and carry normal lives too. They are not out to ruin your life.

11. I feel bad for the kids who believe that high school or college is the best time of their lives. It's really not. There is SO much that is better than the time you are in school (even college).

Yeah, being surrounded by friends, going to the mall, have no bills to pay seems like the peak of life. Think of a life where you don't have to answer to parents, have a bedtime, or an endless amount of homework. You can go the movies on a tuesday night if you want to. You can stay in bed all Sunday without getting yelled at. You can binge netflix for hours and hours without someone telling you what to do. You can be self reliant and responsible. Let me tell you, now that is a great feeling.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
